Divisional Prospect-only all-star teams

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or the NHL talk board but decided upon here.

Which division could produce the best line-up of prospects?

Armia(BUF)-Grigorenko(BUF)-Kadri(TOR)
Stone(OTT)-Girgensons(BUF)-Collberg(MTL)
Gallagher(MTL)-Colborne(TOR)-Spooner(BOS)
Noesen(OTT)

Reilly(TOR)-Hamilton(BOS)
Gardiner(TOR)-Beaulieu(MTL)
Ceci(OTT)-McNabb(BUF)
Pysyk(BUF)

Lehner(OTT)
Subban(BOS)

usernam* 09-03-2012 06:47 PM

Baertschi (CGY)-Nugent Hopkins (EDM)-Yakupov (EDM)
Larsson (MIN)-Granlund (MIN)-Coyle (MIN)

Schultz (EDM)-Klefbom (EDM)
Elliott (COL)-Siemens (COL)

Hackett (MIN)
Lack (VAN)

I'll take a crack at the Southeast. Went mostly by the HF ratings and positions, since I don't know other teams' systems that well. Also, couldn't decide on the last two LDs, so I'll leave those blank for now.

Forsberg (WAS) - Huberdeau (FLO) - Kuznetsov (WAS)
Galiev (WAS) - Bjugstad (FLO) - Panik (TB)
Conacher (TB) - Scheifele (WIN) - Dadonov (CAR)
Howden (FLO) - Dalpe (CAR) - Wilson (WAS)

Koekkoek (TB) - Murphy (CAR)
XXX - Orlov (WAS)
XXX - Trouba (WIN)

Markstrom (FLO)
Holtby (WAS)

Kind of a top heavy lineup, but the goaltending's damn good.

Howse is off the radar now. Gaudreau, Granlund or Jankowski would be a better fit

Fair enough, I was going off HF ratings and such.

Stars have some solid depth on the wings but no stand outs. Chiasson and R. Smith should be on here IMO.

Defense looks very good, though.

I'm probably going to horribly embarrass myself with this as I don't research other teams' prospects nearly as much as I ought, but here goes... Central Division!

Nyquist (DET) - Jarnkrok (DET) - Tarasenko (STL)
Schwartz (STL) - Pirri (CHI) - Atkinson (CBJ)
Saad (CHI) - McNeill (CHI) - Jurco (DET)
Tatar (DET) - Jenner (CBJ) - Rattie (STL)
Aberg (NSH), Teravainen (CHI)

Murray (CBJ) - Smith (DET)
Josi (NSH) - Ellis (NSH)
Erixon (CBJ) - Savard (CBJ)
Olsen (CHI)

Allen (STL)
Smith (NSH)

CHI: 4 forwards, 1 defenseman - total 5 players.
CBJ: 2 forwards, 3 defensemen - total 5 players.
DET: 4 forwards, 1 defenseman - total 5 players.
NSH: 1 forward, 2 defensemen, 1 goaltender - total 4 players.
STL: 3 forwards, 1 goaltender - total 4 players

There's several folks I feel guilty about leaving out - the first three folks that immediately come to mind are Tynan (CBJ), Pulkkinen (DET), and Blum (NSH). I'm really, really uncertain about the centers in particular, because I tried to make a point of only putting in guys that are likely to play the center position in the NHL - and I may have screwed that up regardless.

A shot at the Atlantic:

Kreider (NYR) - Schenn (PHI) - Miller (NYR)
Niederreiter (NYI) - Strome (NYI) - Bennett (PIT)
Hagelin (NYR) - Lee (NYI) - Petrov (NYI)
Tangradi (PIT) - Laughton (PHI) - Thomas (NYR)
Matteau (NJ)

Merrill (NJ) - Reinhart (NYI)
Morrow (PIT) - Despres (PIT)
Pouliot (PIT) - Gelinas (NJ)
Harrington (PIT)

Nilsson (NYI)
Poulin (NYI)

Pretty good list, but I'd argue that Gardiner isn't a prospect any more (75 games last year in the NHL) and that Kadri doesn't really fit the definition of a prospect (played in the NHL in parts of the last 3 years, over 50 games experience, not eligible for the Calder Trophy).

I'd add Tinordi to the D and one of Prince/Collberg/McKegg to the forwards

QMJHLfollower 09-03-2012 08:42 PM

North-East:

Jakob Silfverberg - Alex Galchenyuk - Mark Stone
Marcus Foligno - Mikhail Grigorenko - Nazem Kadri
Carter Ashton - Mika Zibanejad - Stefan Noesen
Brad Ross - Zemgus Girgensons - Tyler Biggs
Joel Armia/Joe Colborne/Louis Leblanc

Morgan Rielly - Dougie Hamilton
Cody Ceci - Brayden McNabb
Mark Pysyk - Jarred Tinordi
Jesse Blacker/Matt Finn

Robin Lehner
Malcom Subban
Ben Scrivens

Tony Clifton Leaf 09-03-2012 08:53 PM

Biggs might be able to squeak onto NE's team as well from a leafs POV.

Billy Mays Here 09-03-2012 10:10 PM

I'll take my best shot at the NW division. Writing this sentence before I even look up all the prospects, I'm just gonna assume it's gonna be a little more Minnesota and Edmonton dominated than the rest of the teams.

Baertschi (CGY) - Granlund (MIN) - Yakupov (EDM)
Zucker (MIN) - Phillips (MIN) - Coyle (MIN)
Hartikainen (EDM) - Schroder (VAN) - Kassian (VAN)
Larsson (MIN) - Jankowski (CGY) - Nemisz (CGY)
Jensen (VAN)

Brodin (MIN) - Schultz (EDM)
Klefbom (EDM) - Dumba (MIN)
Siemens (COL) - Elliott (COL)
Brodie (CGY)

Hackett (MIN)
Lack (VAN)
Irving (CGY)

I don't consider RNH a prospect anymore so I'm leaving him off. Offense and goaltending are solid but that defense is pretty stacked.

Nice edit. Not much of an argument though. ;)

Totally forgot Visentin too, goaltending won't be an issue going into the future for any team.

I'd probably add Tobias Reider as a center - he went 60gp-42g-43a-85pts for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL (5th in goals in the OHL.) He also led the OHL in playoff goals with 13g and 27pts in 16gp.

:dunno:

Pretty good starting point, I have tweaked it based on what I know about Calgary's pool:

Gaudreau is much better than Howse at the moment.
Irving should be in the conversation for Goaltending as well, if Hackett is in it.
T.J. Brodie is still a prospect and is arguable ahead of both Elliott and Siemens at this point, and looked good in his NHL games thus far.

Baertschi (CGY)-Nugent Hopkins (EDM)-Yakupov (EDM)
Larsson (MIN)-Granlund (MIN)-Coyle (MIN)
Hartikainen (EDM)-Phillips (MIN)-Kassian (VAN)
Gaudreau(CGY)-Reinhart (CGY)- Jensen (VAN)

Dumba (MIN)-Brodin (MIN)
Schultz (EDM)-Klefbom (EDM)
Elliott (COL)-Brodie (CGY)
Siemens (COL)

Hackett (MIN)
Lack (VAN)
Irving (CGY)

Biggs, Ashton, Ross and Noesen should not be above Armia on the depth chart.

AwesomePanthers 09-04-2012 04:47 AM

Southeast:
Huberdeau(FLA) - Bjugstad(FLA) - Kuznetsov(WSH)
Forsberg(WSH) - Scheifele(WIN) - Howden(FLA)
Rau(FLA) - Shore(FLA) - Namestnikov (TB)
Dalpe(CAR) - Trocheck (FLA) - Galiev (WSH)

Petrovic(FLA) - Orlov (WSH)
Trouba(WIN) - Murphy (CAR)
Koekkoek(TB) - Robak (FLA)

Markström (FLA)
Holtby (WSH)

I know it looks like a homer team, but one prospect pool is so much better than the rest in SE.

I didn't put them higher because they are better propsects, I put them higher just because I made a physical bottom 6.

Move Foligno down a line, and play Armia on his off wing. Done. Or move Kadri somewhere else.
ETA: Also, Girgensons should be no lower than the 3rd line, flip him to wing if it works better, but he has more skill than he usually gets credit for.

Tobi plays wing most of the time and is better for it. And he is killer with shorty's on the PK. But might have a hard time getting on the top 6 with the NW prospects.
