OT: ANDERSON Advertising & Public Relations to Market the Coyotes

ANDERSON Advertising & Public Relations Named Agency of Record for NHL's Phoenix Coyotes

Quote:

ANDERSON Advertising & Public Relations, a full-service, Scottsdale-based creative and communications agency, has been selected as the agency of record for the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes.
At least they are local, other campaigns they run:

Current and past clients include Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Blue Wasabi Sushi & Martini Bar, Delete Tattoo Removal & Laser Salon, Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, DryBar, Harkins Theaters, Mayo Clinic, Monterey Homes, Morgans Hotel Group, NYPD Pizza, Page Springs Cellars, PopChips and more.

Will this help?

I thought that "Hockey the hard way" was a great slogan last season.

Hopefully these guys can bring in even more fans.

Sindiggy 09-05-2012 11:24 AM

Anyone else think that this is a precursor to "ownership" finally getting resolved?

TickleMeYandle 09-05-2012 12:20 PM

I sure hope so!

It seems that instead of rumors and anonymous sources, we are actually seeing concrete moves towards things finally being settled.

It will be odd - but nice - to be able to focus on the game of hockey rather than reading tea leaves about ownership!

I do. Especially since its a local company. I wonder if GJ had any input in this decision.

I LOVE Page Springs Cellars. If you are ever in central Arizona GO THERE. Oh, and also Javelina Leap Vineyard.

DirtyOldMan 09-05-2012 03:44 PM

I wonder if this is a change or just a renewal, since there was that long association with Desert Schools FCU (the Polar Ice rinks were both officially called that for quite some time)

I think it was a mixture of wanting new blood and dealing with the backlash of an out of town agency. From last year:

The NHL's Phoenix Coyotes have been busy defending their decision to bypass local ad agencies in favor of Minneapolis-based Fallon.

The Coyotes hired Fallon as its agency of record last week, and they had a lot of nice things to say about the ad firm in a story in our sister paper, the Phoenix Business Journal.

I'm happy as long as they can market the team all over Arizona.

My guess is that it helps from a cost management perspective. The group in Minnesota probably worked with much higher profile clientele, and therefore, would charge more as part of a marketing campaign. Add in that while most ideas were completed through teleconferencing, etc., it makes more sense that if management had to meet face-to-face with the group 4-5 times in a year, that it would be in the best interest to stay local....

That coyote might be our new logo next year?

I could see something like a black Coyote head with glowing red eyes, similar to the rebels logo.

doaner 01-14-2013 11:33 AM

That would be cool!

Lyotes 01-14-2013 11:24 PM

Well, at least the coyote in the video looked more like an actual coyote.

Sounds more like the old Mississauga Ice Dogs Logo.

EDIT: unreliable website

If we change our current logo and jerseys, i can almost guarantee you it's going to be worse.
They're going to try and go new school, with a cartoon like logo, multi colors, piping, and some new generation numbering. I can see it now :(

That philosophy gets you the vanilla crap we have now. Original six teams can pull off simple, because they draw most of their identity just from the colors. It helps to have killer logos, but the uniforms are classic because they have a history to them. The Coyotes have no history and no tradition. It's a harder sell, design wise. Something less conservative than what we have now, more clearly defined, would do wonders.

I consider Colorado a good example of new identity done right. Unique colors, scheme and logo. Hasn't changed much, for good reason. It also helps they won a few cups and tacked on some history worth remembering to the look.

I fully expect Jamison to re-brand the team. I think the Sharks have some of the best unis in the league, so if he had anything to do with them that bodes well for the Coyotes.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I think teams who try and be too unique end up regretting it and changing it every 3 years. See Buffalo, Edmonton, and the Islanders. May be good for sales but not good for the fans or identity.

Anyone with contacts in the ad industry or anyone even close to management that knows if Jamison was involved in hiring the new group or if they even ran the new ad campaign by him? The complete lack of information even on anything minor is mind blowing.

Any chance Reinsdorf rides in on a white horse on January 31 and buys the team with the new arena lease in place or would it have to be approved specifically for him?
