Suspensions in Mississauga?

:dunno: Anyone know why coach Greg Gilbert suspended 3 of his own players for 3 games this week? O'Sullivan was one of these players. :(

stugotz 01-24-2005 03:09 PM

As far as suspensions go, i believe Carcillo is under review for a cross check to the face, and will probably get a minimum of 15 games.

They did not play O'Sullivan and Hecimovic, rumors out of Missy has said that they missed curfew and the coach sat them out.

FearTheFlyers 01-24-2005 03:24 PM

Yeah, Patty and Hec both missed curfew, Carcillo is gon for a long time.

Here is an article if anyone is looking for quotes from the coach and Patty O.

He deserves it.

As Crossbar's article points out, Carcillo was also suspended by his own team at the same time the other two were, not that it matters now. Pointing that out to keep confusion to a minimum, Hecimovic getting suspended for behavioural problems without his trusty sidekick Carcillo, would have been strange.

Wow, I haven't seen a clip of either cross-check but for a guy to get suspended 38 + games in one season for cross-checks to the head you would of think he learned his lesson. Is he a head case or what?

You are more than safe to call Daniel Carcillo a headcase.

Yes.... he has a history of problems and suspensions by the league. You would have thought/hoped he'd learned his lesson with the previous suspensions....

Plenty of times, as Charlies Girl points out, aside from just these two cross-checks he's been suspended by the league in the past.

Sarnia's coach (Perry) benched him and Hecimovic last year for violating team rules off the ice and taking too many dumb selfish penalties on it. In response Carcillo and Hec decided to stop showing up for team practices and basically walked out on the team. Eventually they went over the coaches head to the owner of the Sting to get their playing time back and down the line had more run ins with the coach, leading to Perry's firing.

In London last year at the first ever Re/Max challenge game (Russia vs. Canada), as some of the Russians were getting of the bus and setting foot in a North American arena for the first time, Carcillo was yelling obscenities and trash talking them in the hall... some welcome wagon. Luckily alot of them didn't even speak english.

In any given game Carcillo is usually good for at least one 'hissey fit', whether he loses it at the refs, an opposition team player, a coach or teammate. I'd love to know how many 10-minute misconducts he racked up in Sarnia.

His first cross-checking incident this season also occured against a 16 year old, rookie underager. Halischuk needed something like 22 stitsches and Carcillo's latest work Damaged McQuaid's mouth pretty bad, not sure about the stitch count, but McQuaid is going to need reconstrustive dental surgery.

The sad thing is that Carcillo is actually a decent player. He's got good hands for a guy his size, and he's actually reasonably skilled and he's obviously chippy. His skating is pretty poor, but that could be worked on. If only he wasn't such a headcase, I think he'd actually be a solid pest prospect for the NHL.

It'll be interesting to see if the Penguins sign him. I'm betting they do, and try and calm him down.

MePutPuckInNet 01-31-2005 09:01 PM

There's a good quote from Carcillo here atSlam .

and, in my opinion....the kid is a hell of a lot more than "reasonably skilled".
