Am I reading that correctly? Randy Robitaille a top line center?

Yes, on the presumably "worst team in the league". They have barely met the leagues' financial requirements to participate an had to start a garage sale of players in the offseason. In the KHL you can sell player's rights for money, so you dump the contract, get money and don't get a contact in return. So they basically have players on the roster they still could afford. That means there are no real 1st or 2nd lines there. They are a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners, a couple of guys well over 35 and a couple of youngsters. They managed to upset some fat cats last year with their work ethic and team first mentality though. Today in their season opener they scored two quick and grinded out a 3:2 SO win. That's what they do.

Atas2000 09-06-2012 09:11 PM

Ak Bars Kazan from today's season opener:

Zaripov-Kapanen/Immonen-Morozov
Pesonen-Immonen-Obuhov
Darzin'sh-Tereshchenko-Petrov
Skachkov-Bodrov-Golubev

Nikulin-Korneev
Medvedev-Kulyash
Zaharchuk-Homickiy
Yarullin

Barulin, Garipov

There will be changes. Lahti should be ready for next game. Should come into the all finns line. Mayorov, Abdullin and Lukoyanov will definitely get theirs stints as the season goes on. Same goes for Tokranov and Panin on D.

Dinamo Riga from yesterday:

M.Karsums - J.Johnson - M.Indrašis
A.Ņiživijs - R.Schremp - A.Giroux
Rob.Bukarts - A.Džeriņš - G.Meija
E.Biezais - M.Bičevskis - G.Skvorcovs
A.Podziņš

K.Rēdlihs - G.Galviņš
J.Rēdlihs - M.Carle
K.Sotnieks - A.Reķis

M.Jučers/M.Tellqvist

Ankipāns will replace someone from the 3d/4th line (Bukarts probably), Ivanans will also appear on the 4th, maybe 3rd on rare occasions. Plus Upītis will be called up.

kunabai 09-07-2012 04:06 AM

Some players are decent top6 forwards: Kagarlitsky, Bumagin, hopefully Mereskin. And MNk is actually the youngest team in the KHL, average age being <26 years. but that's coming off topic.

No offence, but I wouldn't want them in our top 6. Maybe Kagarlitsky. I know I'm spoiled with AkBars. But that's what I've meant, these players have to accept and carry a bigger role in MNk. About age I wrote "a couple" of older guys. I know they are young. Moreover if you'd count age/time on ice they are probably ahead of the league by a mile.
