With the historic Molson Canadian Heritage Classic - played outdoors at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium - just over two months away, the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens have announced the rosters for both Alumni MegaStar teams.

This has to be one of the most impressive rosters of players to ever skate on a sheet of ice," said Patrick LaForge, President & CEO of the Edmonton Oilers. "We've got Oiler greats whose efforts helped win five Stanley Cup's for the City of Champions, and many of the Canadiens legends that have won 24 Stanley Cup's for Montreal. For hockey fans around the world, this is a dream match-up."

"The entire Montreal Canadiens organization is excited about the Heritage Classic and the MegaStars game," said Canadiens President Pierre Boivin.

"Although the Canadiens alumni will face a formidable Oilers line-up, we remain very confident that the quality of our roster will be a delight for hockey fans in Edmonton and across the world watching on November 22nd."

"We have assembled a Canadiens team for all generations," said Rejean Houle, President of the Montreal Canadiens Alumni. "We have players that helped bring six Stanley Cup's to Montreal in the 70's, as well as Canadiens from the 80's and 90's who also wear championship rings. We're all looking forward to meeting the Oilers outdoors this November."

The Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens MegaStars will play two 15-minute periods of stop-time hockey prior to the Oilers/Canadiens regular season match-up on November 22, 2003, at Commonwealth Stadium.

Carbo and Big Bird both suiting up for the Habs...very cool.

Yeah the goalie situation sure could use some work...was Red Light Racicot not available?

it would kind of be funny, if Brunet actually injured Gretzky in the game.... ;)

I was looking forward to the chance of seeing Mike McPhee one last time.

Wouln't it just burn the Leafs and their fans by asking Doug Gilmour to play in this great event as a HAB..... I bet he would jump at the chance.

Cause the team name is the Habs Megastars. As good as Brunet played for Montreal, he is by no means a Megastar.

Like it matters. He'll be injured 10 minutes into the game anyway. :D

The one guy that's going to dominate the show (and mark my words) is Steph Richer. This guy still has the moves, the speed and the shots. I hope they allow slapshots. He could still be playing in the big show if it wasn't for his reputation, his attitude and his mental toughness.

But, man, he'll be a step quicker than anybody there.
