Board-To-Board Mock: The Draft!

You guys are up with the #8 pick of the draft!

How it works?
I'll go on the team's board that are supose to be picking, start a thread, and fans from each team will have to say who they draft. Just reply and say "I pick this guy". Time limit is 8 hours. After the limit no vote counts. When I come on the board, I'll check out the result and reply to the thread to say who they drafted. Then I'll go on the board of team that is picking next.

Players Available:
Every players that are signed by an NHL club, RFA and UFA can be drafted (Ilya Kovalchuk Jason Allison etc.. are available). Unsigned prospect are still property of their respective team. So if Jeff Carter gets sign in real life, we'll place him on the Flyers' roster. Players who were picked to be Franchise Players cannot be drafted.

There will be 22 rounds of drafting. The only restriction you've got is that you got to have atleast 2 goalies.

At the end, your team will have 25 players (with at least 2 goalies), that will compose your roster. Then each board will name ONE GM, who will be the head GM for this team. All the other posters will be his AGMs. GM will be able to send trade proposals via PM to the other head GMs. A team's head GM should always start a thread to talk with his AGMs about what's going on. For exemple if I receive a trade proposal from another GM, I'm going to start a thread on my team's board and ask opinions on what I should do. The GM will be named after the draft is done.

Also, when the draft will be completed and the NHL season will have resume, we might start a keeper pool between all the team's board. That's my goal. What's your opinion about that?

I STARTED A THREAD ON THE MOCK DRAFT BOARD FOR DISCUSSION ABOUT THIS MOCK DRAFT! I SUGGEST EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO TALK ABOUT IT HEADS DOWN TO THIS THREAD:
http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?p...58#post2392958
WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP A GREAT DISCUSSION GOING OVER THERE! I'LL ALSO POST ALL THE INFO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DRAFT OVER THERE!

If anyone has any question please feel free to post. :)

That sounds good to me.... it's a long time until we pick again, and defensemen are going to be at a premium I suspect.

Vikke 01-25-2005 09:00 AM

Robyn Regehr would be my choice as well, if my vote will count. :)
I'm not exactly a regular poster except on the Swedish forum, but I love the Flyers. :yo:

Roger's Pancreas* 01-25-2005 11:04 AM

I really didn't think that Alfie would have lasted this long, and I really think that Joni could be the number one defenceman right now. I vote for Alfredsson

Juicer 01-25-2005 11:47 AM

I think there is too many good Dmen to take go for a Dman right now, I thikn we should get some offense. I second Alfie.

adurn 01-25-2005 12:15 PM

Bryan McCabe

:lol

I'll go with a wildcard goalie and say Hannu Toivonen.

Cup4Philly 01-25-2005 01:20 PM

I think we should pick Alfredsson.

12# Peter Bondra 01-25-2005 02:05 PM

Just for the count, its now: 3 Regehr, 3 Alfie, 1 Toiv.onen

Yertle The Turtle 01-25-2005 02:08 PM

yeah im gonna say Alfie too

RJ8812 01-25-2005 02:42 PM

Alfie

#57 01-25-2005 06:13 PM

Daniel Alfredsson wins it.

Next is the Edmonton Oilers.

MojoJojo 01-25-2005 06:21 PM

Crap, I missed it, but I would have voted for Alfie.

GKJ 01-25-2005 06:34 PM

:banghead:

People want a 21 year old as their #1 defenseman? Joni Pitkanen is a great young player and a great young prospect but the thought of him being a top pair defenseman at this stage in his carreer is absurd.

I would think that Regehr being a 24 year old and already a proven #1 defenseman would be more of a priority than taking a foward who has done nothing in his carreer but lose to Toronto...?

You forgott he whooped the Flyers once or twice in his short undistinguished career. There will still be good defensemen left by round two who wont be a significant downgrade form Regeher. There will be no more point per game forwards by then however, especially with the intangibles that Alfredsson brings. He was a solid pick.

I do remember that, one of those times he went and lost to Toronto. Pavel Kubina and Ruslan Fedotenko whooped the Flyers en route to a Stanley Cup, why didn't we pick them?

What intangibles? He's never won a Game 7 as captain of the Senators. When the pressure is on late in series', he usually isn't arounf

ok, he can run a power play, so can a lot of other players. Point-per-game players don't do much good when everyone else has defenses that can shut him down.

FearTheFlyers 01-25-2005 08:36 PM

Damn ,missed it but I would have voted Alfie, there are a lot of d-men close to Regehr's level out there and very few fanchise forwards.

So one could build a team with 22 goalies and suck the pool dry? ;)

None of them are 24 years old and have been to a Cup final and won a World Cup

Did you watch game six of that series, when he smashed Darcy Tucker into the boards, possibly separating his shoulder, and then scored the game winning goal a few seconds later? If winning a Stanley cup is what determines a captains worth, then I guess you wouldnt take Naslund or Iginla over Dave Andreychuk?

Mike Fisher score on a broken play from Antoine Vermette.

Even so, what are the Senator likes 4-7 in elimation games? That's not a great record. They also got swept twice after winning their division.

We beat Toronto two years in a row, does that mean we shouldn't pick any leafs?

I think his point was he can play well against top teams, and I agree.

We already have our captain, I am not expecting him to be our leader.
