Vhl 2012-13

Will be interesting to follow VHL this season. New rule was adopted - every club has to have active at least 5 guys under 23 years, at least 5 guys under 25 years. One guy under 20 must be dressed for game.

Today, F Nichushkin, born 95, scored a goal

I will be watching for THK, our farm. Gusev was sent down, Barbashev is up to KHL (had two goals in two games), Naumenkov is also there.

Sigarev with a hat-trick, may be he will be a notable player this year in Ufa!

Sounds like a great rule! It will move the VHL away from a dumping ground of has-beens into a league that may prepare more guys to develop their game. I hope it has that affect for Nichushkin, who I would love to see in Ufa.

He had a good year as a Junior in Penza, and was really impressive in the Canada-Russia Series.

I agree that rule could help VHL to be better, to be true developing league. As I know AHL has similar limits, not about age but games player or so. Nichushkin played on monday and tuesday in MHL, 2+2 I believe. Shalumov as well, had 5+ pts

Still playing for Dizel?

I assume his hat-trick was for Dizel, but I don't know that for a fact.

Shalunov also has a lot of talent, and if he can put it all together pretty soon, he could be a force in Ufa. I don't know why he didn't play in Games 3 and 4 of the Canada-Russia series, after scoring 2 goals in Game 2?

Sigarev was a real discovery for me this summer. Seems like a hard-working and modest guy. May he surprise all the scouts at WJC!

Ust-Kamenogorsk has had an amazing start to the season. 11 points out of 12 with a roster almost exclusively built by local players.

vorky 09-21-2012 10:19 AM

Nichushkin scored today in VHL

cska78 09-21-2012 12:19 PM

VHL is truly becoming developmnet league and not a retirement league.

cska78 09-21-2012 12:22 PM

Another guy reviving his career is Podshendyalov, he was lost in no man's land all over NA. Oshinskiy and Kozub - two highscoring forwards from last years MHL's Olimipa are having a good start in the VHL as well.

He seemed to stand out against the very best Canadians in August.

With luck, it could turn out to be a bridge between the MHL and KHL, and hopefully serve as an alternative to those overagers in the MHL who are still decent prospects!

I watched some of Toros - THK last night, and Toros is obviously much better, but I wanted to see Gusev, Naumenkov and for a lesser part Kurbatov.

semin's sokol is playing ustinka.

cska78 09-28-2012 07:38 AM

I would add Ziazov Airat (Dizel) and Raisov Aslan (Ariadna) as young players to watch this year.

If I remember, Airat suffered (serious??) injury in 10/11 or last season. Good for him beeing on radar again.

I will have to check out THK. I'm still in the process of learning all of the teams affiliations, players etc.. But I've been watching Diezel for Sigarev, Yakimov and Kuchin. I Also watched Chelmet because of Nicushkin and their new sweet logos.
I'm interested in THK tho because it seems they should have a stacked roster in theory. CSKA MHL team seems to have leeked too many guys and now suck after being maybe one of the best junior teams in the world... Which in theory should mean that all those guys either moved to VHL or KHL (which did not happen). To think of all the guys that are eligible to play Krasnaja Armija makes you sick:
Denis Kamayev (QMJHL)
Grigorenko (QMJHL)
Kucherov (QMJHL)
Plotnikov (USHL)
Zadorov (OHL)
Tolchinsky (OHL)
Zykov (QMJHL)
Prokhorkin (AHL)
Vorobiev (WHL)

Would easily be the best junior team in the world if their roster had these guys. Hopefully guys start moving to the VHL rather than flock to NA

Great to see Semin choosing the VHL in his hometown. IMO, his presence alone will have the following effects: (1) It will be a huge boost for the VHL to have a big-time player of his caliber, and (2) it will be a huge boost for ice hockey in Krasnoyarsk, which has been mainly dominated by bandy.
