The Starting Goalie

I'm fairly certain this will be a landslide victory for one goaltender but who do you think will get the start for the Canuck's first regular season game of the season?

Hammer79 09-12-2012 07:17 PM

Schneider, but Luongo is still going to get around half the starts.

RECsGuy* 09-12-2012 07:24 PM

The guy who is earning exponentially more than the last time you saw him.

Dr Awesome 09-13-2012 03:03 PM

Ginger bricks. However who ever plays the best should get the first start.

Bigger question will be what will the split be? 50/32?

Reverend Mayhem 09-13-2012 03:11 PM

Schneider, but only because I think Luongo will be gone by opening day. If he's still here I think Luongo will.

Even bigger queston...will there be a start of the season?

EDIT: sorry guys, i walked away from my computer for an hour and forgot i was on the Nucks board. Didn't mean to hijack.

Verviticus 09-13-2012 04:54 PM

there's really no right answer. if luongo starts, they have their reasons. if schneider starts, they have their reasons

essentially, whoever the coaching staff decides should start

me2 09-13-2012 05:13 PM

I bet they toss a coin for it. So whoever wins the coin toss between them.

Wisp 09-13-2012 05:15 PM

Where's the 'Who is playing best?' option.

Ernieparty 09-13-2012 06:03 PM

Cory

Vankiller Whale 09-13-2012 06:14 PM

If Luongo hasn't been traded, he wil start.

opendoor 09-13-2012 06:18 PM

I hope they both start; Schneider for the Canucks and Luongo for another team of his choosing. Despite Luongo putting his best face on for the media, I can't imagine it's much fun having this drag on for 4+ months.

Master Radishes 09-13-2012 06:30 PM

Voted Luongo just for funsies.

Chairman Maouth 09-13-2012 06:54 PM

Luongo if he's still here.

AV will want him in the right frame of mind for the season so he will play Luongo first game. There would be no issue with Schneider. The Canucks have already shown their confidence in him by way of his new contract.

Lundface* 09-13-2012 06:54 PM

The same guy who got the nod in the elimination games in the spring. The management has decided who's the better goaltender moving forward, and have paid him accordingly.

The kid is the future of this team, they'd be dumb not to start him.

I have nothing against Luongo, and I hope he gets quite a few games if he's still here. But Cory to me is simply the better goalie now, and needs starts to continue improving. He's earned his shot, time to see if he can maintain it.

I pick option 3, whoever earns it out of camp, whenever the heck that will be.

This.

Scurr 09-13-2012 07:26 PM

Luongo said it, it's time to move on. If Lu is still here, he's here as the backup, just like Schneid's was before. It's the only way to keep this thing from blowing up in the teams face and the reason it didn't before. Have a clear #1, do not waiver.

kevinsane 09-13-2012 07:26 PM

Lack. Just to **** with us.

PierreMcGuire* 09-14-2012 04:04 AM

Schneider. Doesn't matter if Luongo is here or not. Can't see Schneider not getting the first game, unless he's injured, or something crazy happens and Schneider gets traded.

RECsGuy* 09-14-2012 04:24 AM

God have mercy on Schneider's soul if he doesn't carry the Canucks to at least the Stanley Cup Finals at some point in his career. Vancouver media and fans will **** all over him until this happens.

Such is life being a Vancouver hockey fan. We'll crap on the goalie, but don't worry boys go make mistakes out there and shoot 40 pucks on net and don't score but god forbid if our goalie allows one questionable goal. It's not really a goalie town.

Such an astute observation, with one minor change which has been bolded.

CCF23 09-14-2012 01:27 PM

Vigneault made this decision in the playoffs. Luongo will never be a starter in Vancouver again.
