What about Oiers? ;)

Prep for the lockout.....

Teams will be doing lots of this today I suspect as they get ready for an AHL season.

I hope the Oilers don't lose Danis. He's a solid player to have within the org in case one of Dubnyk/Khabi get injured (or crap the bed) during the season.

The Nuge 09-14-2012 01:22 PM

I feel like we're going to lose Plante

Turrican* 09-14-2012 01:37 PM

Plante is no good.
I never knew what people saw out of him outside of a #7/#8

I could see that too actually, his development has really come along in the last few seasons.

I wonder if there will be some claiming going on, Zach Boychuk's been a bust in Carolina, but that's basically a free skilled player, I could see the Flames or the Yotes going after him.

Diamondillium 09-14-2012 01:41 PM

Only one I would realy care about there is Danis. I see Chorney is on waviers too, Oilers should claim him again just to screw with him some more.

worraps 09-14-2012 01:47 PM

Has anyone, anywhere, been claimed on waivers yet? I would hope that there would be a gentleman's agreement among GMs to not take advantage of these exceptional circumstances.

Dont Hinder Jinder 09-14-2012 01:49 PM

Lose Plante and claim Chorney off of waivers from STL? :biglaugh:

Agreed. I like Danis, and even if he doesn't get a cup of coffee in the NHL, he's been outstanding for us with the Barons.

I'd feel bad if anyone got claimed. would that have them instead of making AHL money to play hockey, they'd be locked out on a NHL roster and get nothing?
that would really suck.

That's why I don't see many if any getting picked up. These are all players that need to be playing not doing nothing.

joestevens29 09-14-2012 02:51 PM

CBJ really should've waived Mason and had him play in the AHL. Either that or they should've taken advantage of the 1/3 buyout when they had the chance.

The Head Crusher 09-14-2012 05:24 PM

I wouldn't mind picking up Colin McDonald again. Not a player I would expect to make the big club, but he did score 42 goals for OKC in 2010/11.

tv14 09-14-2012 05:28 PM

Oilers need to pick up Zach Boychuk! One of my favorite Lethbridge Hurricanes of all time.

tiger_80 09-14-2012 05:44 PM

Plante will get a shot in the NHL one day--if not with the Oilers than with another team.

NAF 09-14-2012 05:49 PM

I don't know if there'll be any pickups on waivers, first because GMs probably have a gentleman's agreement (as has been said) and second because it's not like you'd be able to pick up a player for OKC, since in order to assign him there you'd have to put him back on waivers, no?
