Franchise Players in NHL 13

Had one for 12, so post any you find in here!

Rangers1135 09-16-2012 08:35 AM

I dont have NHL 13 yet but in NHL 12 I found a guy named Nathan Mottau and was a 74 18 A B C 3rd overall. Jumped to 80 19 A A- B and is my franchise player. i hope they have more Franchise players in NHL 13.

Orange Thunder 10-04-2012 04:30 PM

Anyone come across one?

eskies4life 11-04-2012 09:45 AM

Bump... Anyone find any of them?

tututooter21 11-04-2012 10:53 AM

No, but I think I'll start a new one and create Barzal and McDavid.
4.5 yellow for Barzal
5.0 yellow for McDavid

Ive created one franchise player, Connor McDavid who i made 88 overall 5 green stars coming out of the draft. I also adjusted players overalls and it was quite realistic because they can play in the league right away. Mackinnon 83, Monahan 77, Barkov 78, Drouin 76 ect..

I think that the new potential system eliminated "franchise players", so to speak, but I've come across a few good players in my offline Be A GM. I found a couple of 4.5 green star defensemen that started at 73 and 77 overall, a 4.5 green star goalie that started at 70 overall but was an 86 overall after 2 years and ended up a 90 overall, and a 5 yellow star goalie that was a 93 overall after three seasons.

Just drafted 4.5 gold star forward who starts at 82

Petes2424 11-05-2012 10:35 AM

I've seen no "Franchise Players"

I'll reset the Sept 17th thing 3-5 times every year and still nothing. Been through the game once and am currently about 8 years into a second.

Kezia 11-05-2012 11:38 AM

Ive played 20ish years total without seeing any franchise players. Its kinda annoying that no player can be 90+ unless 5 star but they dont create any 5 star prospects...

18Hossa 11-05-2012 12:35 PM

One time i drafted Damian Ketlo (real goalie) he was 5 star green and he ended up at 96 like 3-4 seasons later.

MightyMoose71 11-15-2012 08:24 PM

It is possible to draft a franchise player if you look at the gm tasks tab in the gm tracker on the drafting page there is task for 20 points that says "draft one franchise player"

Orange Thunder 11-16-2012 08:50 AM

So they are still in the game? Must be harder to find one I guess.

tututooter21 11-16-2012 09:23 AM

I got a goalie 5 stars yellow, Stefan Persson in 2015. NYR actually drafted him but i traded for him cuz he was gonna be a stud

Sautiner hes a D in his second year he's an 82 on my team he was the first overall pick,he's a 2 way dman.

George Maharis 11-16-2012 09:52 PM

2016 draft:

Luke Yzerman, 1st overall, 85ovr 4.5 yellow
Orlando Forney, 2nd overall, 82ovr 4.5yellow

Sadly, I got neither of these players and I do not plan on overpaying for them. Yzerman's value is 3/4 full, and Forney's is just under half.

Gunnin54 11-19-2012 12:10 AM

A lot of good players in 2013 draft good 4.5 star goalie in alex debeau

Trxjw 11-19-2012 08:37 AM

I'm into 2023 and I haven't seen a single 5 star player come out of the draft yet. I have a 4.5 green star center who is 24 and is hovering around the 88-89 mark, but hasn't topped that. He's a beast to play with though. 6'7 and 251lbs. 99 in checking, strength, balance and puck control. Regularly puts up over a PPG with 80+ PIMs -- wish I had him for fantasy hockey.

I think the notion of a "franchise player" is gone. However, 4.5 or 5 star players are certainly of that caliber if they develop properly.

Yea so there is still franchise players but i guess they made them 1 in a million kind of thing. But definitely some players that aren't labelled "franchise" still turn out to be amazing. For example LA's center in mine scored 80, 82, 75, 72 and 95 goals in consecutive seasons. So i guess he was amazing and the most surprising fact is that he was drafted in the 3rd round and i think had 3.5 star potential.

Yeah definitely. I know Toronto had an 88 OVR two-way defenseman that never scored less than 40 goals and won the Rocket Richard twice. I dunno, sim gets weird sometimes haha.

Traded for a green 5 star goalie. Never seen a 5 star forwards though

I'm willing to bet that task was simply overlooked by the development crew. Franchise players appear to be completely gone.

Bump, anyone find one?

Closest ive seen is a 5 star forward but was only overall 58.

Deku Scrub 11-25-2012 06:41 PM

I was playing Be a GM today and Colorado had a goalie named Jake Patterson who was 95 overall with 4.5 green stars. The year was 2018. I don't think he's a franchise player though, because once I drafted him in the second round and he was only 3.5 gold stars. Just another case of prospects randomly having different potential.
