Yessss. Enzo! I'm guessing between 2.75-3.25 per since this is just a bridge contract (no UFA years).

Edit: Doh, 2.8 per. Very happy with that. :yo:

Nice for the Sabres! That's about $2.8MM per year for a player who very well may be the most important offensive piece for the team. I'm happy for the city that they've now got a great owner that loves the game and is willing to do whatever he must in order to win.

What is the lineup looking like right now? Does this look close? I imagine Girgensons and Grigorenko will be given a look in training camp (if there is one).

Vanek | Hodgson | Pominville
Foligno | Ennis | Stafford (this line was great at the end of last year)
Gerbe | Ott | Leino
Ellis | McCormick | Kaleta

Good deal for Buffalo, wouldn't be surprised if he gets 60-70 points next season

Kc232 09-15-2012 12:30 PM

awesome, love ennis.

LyricalLyricist 09-15-2012 12:32 PM

Fair deal but could end up a win for the sabres.

I agree that Hodgson isn't first line material at this point, and might even max out as a solid #2 center career-wise, but he's probably got the position locked up (assuming Foligno/Ennis/Stafford is the 2nd line) until Grigs or Girgs assumes the role. I still think that the Sabres have a bright future offensively. Ennis, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Hodgson, Foligno, Armia...that is a nice group! And Vanek, Pominville, and Ott are still in the 28-30 y/o range, so they've got several years of service left.

Thank you for your lovely contribution to a Tyler Ennis thread.

I love the deal, it gives Ennis a chance to prove his run at the end of last year wasn't a fluke, if he doesn't improve, we can decide what to do then. :handclap:

8 points in his last 10 games while Vanek was barely contributing, and his other winger was Tropp lol.

guy directly under you said he's the most important offensive piece. Ennis has ppg potential, easily worth a 1st and a 3rd

Cherry picking stats no? What about his entire time in Buffalo when it comes to points?

bruinsfan46 09-15-2012 01:12 PM

Wow, surprised he took so little.

Because it's not reasonable to think the harsh travel, new teammates, new team strategies, shifting up and down the line-up, and inability to practice with the team for his first 10 games may have affected his play?

This thread isn't even about Hodgson, but he, Ennis, Grigs, Girgs, and Adam (if anyone still considers him a center) are a nice young group up the middle.

sabresfan129103 09-15-2012 01:15 PM

His career high is still only 49 points. He was hot to finish the season, but he still has a lot to prove.

Let's call it an adjustment period. :)

Still has quite a bit farther to go to prove himself, IMO. He absolutely drove the Sabres offense for the last 20 or so games of the season, but we need to see he's the real deal and what his long-term role with the team is before inking him long term for big money. Ennis wins because, if he can do that, he'll cash in big time in 2 years when Buffalo wants to buy up UFA years. And Buffalo wins because, if he lives up to or exceeds expectations these next few years, we've got a short-term bargain, and, if he doesn't, we haven't handcuffed ourselves to him either.

He probably took less money to get a shorter contract

Was on pace for 58 points last year. Ennis has 80 point potential. Steal of a contract compared to every laughable RFA extension handed out this summer.

deckercky 09-15-2012 01:30 PM

I definitely think Buffalo will go through some growing pains with all their young centers, but to not acknowledge the great talent they've assembled there is a bit foolish. Next season they'll have a few players in well over their heads, and to have that all at center is going to be tough, but unless their development completely falls off, they'll be good in a few years, and the team is quite strong in other positions to support those centers as they pick up the game.

jesus christ, thought 5.6 per year first
