Who gets/can get re-assigned/where?

With all these players going to the AHL and junior (Eberle, RNH, Skinner, Yakupov, Gardiner, Kadri) Who on the habs can/will go where?

I know Blunden was put on waivers and probably wont get claimed.Off the top of my head

Bulldogs:
Louis Leblanc
Aron Palushaj
Mike Blunden

Juniors:
Galchenyuk

Now, can Beaulieu, Tinordi, Bournival, Ellis, Gallagher, Holland be assigned to Hamilton at this stage?

Marc the Habs Fan 09-16-2012 11:30 AM

You nailed it. Anyone on a 2-way contract who is not eligible for waivers can be assigned to Hamilton without a problem. Aside from Gally, who isn't eligible for AHL.

Palushaj, St-Denis and Desjardins are going to sign AHL contracts to go there I would imagine since they are waiver eligible and weren't put on them.

They all have nothing left to prove in junior, so they will be playing in Hamilton this year. Definitely going to be a fun team to watch this year!

Won't hamilton be stacked?

Many AHL teams will be, at least relative to a normal season. The Habs don't have guys like Eberle and RNH or Skinner and Faulk to send down, so if anything Hamilton may be lagging behind some other teams!

But our D core won't be too bad will it?

Not to mention our G won't be so bad either. I don't think habs will have the star power up front but I think we'll be competitive.

It's too bad that guys like Eller and subban just finished their ELC. If it weren't for that we could send them down. I think it would've done Eller some good.

DAChampion 09-16-2012 12:57 PM

Hamilton will be stacked, but so will most AHL teams around the league.

Overall, this means a superior development year for any player currently in the AHL, either in the Habs system or not.

I have always wondered if the 2005 lockout was part of the reason that the 2003 NHL entry draft is the most successful in history. We may see a similar outcome here.

Stacked? Because of Palushaj? That's nothing compared to RNH, Eberle, MPS and Schultz. Now THAT is stacked.

That's one team.

Subban could sign a AHL contract with the Dogs with a clause that could let him go back to the NHL as soon as the lockout is over.

Why would he?

Assign Gomez to the Alaskan penal league

Forsead 09-16-2012 03:23 PM

Last times it was has been great for some of our prospect like Higgins and Plekanec. I hope it does the same thing this time.

Gomez played in alaska of the ECHL last lockout. Funny enough, when he came back he posted career highs in goals 33 and points 84.

To be closer to home. I'd rather see him in Europe though

Correct me if If I'm wrong, but I don't believe Fortier was qualified, and Henry won't be returning.

Fortier was cut loose, not qualified. Wonder what he's doing this season? Henry is playing in Europe this year.

yoyo999 09-16-2012 04:31 PM

Henry signed in europe and I dont think Fortier was given a qualifying offer

Chris Minard owes his NHL career to Gomez. While playing with Gomez in the ECHL, Minard scored 49 goals in 69 games. He ended up playing 40 games in the NHL.

Quote:

During the 2004–05 season he (Minard) played with the Alaska Aces, and made his AHL debut, playing one game with the Milwaukee Admirals. During the NHL lockout, Minard played on a line with Scott Gomez, who had returned to his hometown of Anchorage to play for the season. During the season, Minard posted career highs in goals scored. This led to Gomez influencing New Jersey Devils management to give Minard a training camp slot, where he would earn a spot for the 2005–06 AHL season with the Albany River Rats, and the 2006–07 season with the Lowell Devils.

Hamilton's roster looks something like this right now.

Forwards
Gallagher Leblanc Palushaj
Geoffrion Bournival Holland
Blunden Nattinen Avtsin
Quailer Dumont Schultz
Berger Lefebvre

Defense
St-Denis - Tinordi
Nash - Ellis
Pateryn - Stejskal
Hagel

Goalies
Desjardins
Delmas
Mayer

Lines are not right just opinionated. As far as we know Beaulieu is heading back to junior, but anything can change.
Edit: St. John Sea Dogs (Junior) is a choice aswell as Hamilton.
