NHL 13 & General Video Game Discussion Part Quatre
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Just for fun, I tried to get a Nick Schultz card but Oilers fans (or whoever selling it) ask way too much..

Billy Mays Here 09-16-2012 10:35 PM

Since training cards are useless, I think I'll just try to stack up my team with players that are all 90+ in skating. What forwards are 90+ skating? I'll name off the ones I know of off the top of my head but I'm sure there's more:

Cogliano ANA
Cammalleri CGY
Duchene COL
Helm DET
Filppula DET
Grabner NYI
Gaborik NYR
Havlat SJS

Oilers fans overvaluing their players...? No...

:sarcasm:.. Kinda.

Victorious Secret 09-16-2012 10:40 PM

Nah. No sarcasm needed.

Avder 09-16-2012 11:07 PM

Quatre? What the hell?

Victorious Secret 09-16-2012 11:10 PM

That means 4 in el Mexicano.

Avder 09-16-2012 11:12 PM

I that that was quatro?

MNman 09-16-2012 11:18 PM

So if i understand this correctly......players now have no set career length in HUT, and training cards only last one game. So that should mean that 80 game contracts are worthless as well, and that player cards should be selling for a lot more, but they will never see their salary hit go up?

Why does EA keep changing the system just as people are getting used to it? the way HUT was run last year was fine, it's supposed to be about collecting players and training them up the way you want.

I better get in a fun EASHL team and/or Be A GM Connected league to enjoy this game. (xbox 360 for those who don't already know)

Dee Oh Cee 09-16-2012 11:23 PM

Quatre would be French. (4)

Billy Mays Here 09-16-2012 11:30 PM

Yep, I was looking forward to continuing to build my teams by training up prospects rather than going after expensive NHLers. I liked last year's HUT a hell of a lot better. Was gonna do a top line of Phillips, Huberdeau, and Jurco but that won't happen now. Only new addition I really like is how you can change the team of a player to increase chemistry.

Fel 96 09-16-2012 11:31 PM

And captain/assistant cards.

Billy Mays Here 09-16-2012 11:36 PM

Do captain cards increase salary?

If they do, then I don't really care about them as a new addition. I'd much rather have permanent training cards.

Numero quatro!

If you couldn't tell, I'm fluent in Espanol.

Billy Mays Here 09-17-2012 12:50 AM

That's Spanish for no.

TheeNorthStar 09-17-2012 12:57 AM

Heater hurt now too?

Thats it.... *turns off injuries*

I need to start playing my Be A Pro career again...

Also i wanna get into HUT but it seems too complicated for my simple mind lol

vitogor 09-17-2012 04:27 AM

Just bought the game yesterday. Sorry if this has been asked, but I don't feel like going through quatro threads. (Yeah, I'm fluent in Mexican, too)

Am I blind, or is Jonas Brodin not in the game? I checked Farjestad, I checked Aeros, I checked Wild, I checked free agents.... :help:

Finally got my PS3 running and downloaded the demo.

The new lighting is much, much better. You don't notice how dated the player models are. It's fantastic.

The new skating feels extremely sluggish. But every NHL game feels slow to me. I always crank the play speed all the way up.

The AI is still hit and miss...much better overall but sometimes guys would skate in WAY offsides, like 20-30 feet.

Scored on my first shot, then not again for maybe 50 shots. Too easy to walk in on the goalie but they are far too difficult to score on.

Why isn't there a short-term fatigue/recovery effect for the goalies? I think if they have to make 2-3 highlight saves in under 10 seconds, they should get so tired and be out of position and you can score easier. In real life, rebounds are a hell of a lot harder for goalies. Just a thought.

I wouldn't mind buying the game but have no money. Maybe when golf season dies down.

Also, Borderlands 2 comes out tomorrow!

Engebretson 09-17-2012 09:26 AM

While using the NHL 13 iPhone app, I bought a Harding for around 1,050 pucks this weekend. :handclap:

Billy Mays Here 09-17-2012 10:20 AM

Can't figure out how to get that App to work.

I just downloaded it and then you have to login with your EA account username and password. I mistakenly tried entering in my PSN account info at first until I realized what I was doing wrong.

BigT2002 09-17-2012 10:43 AM

Goalie AI needs to be patched. How this game plays is still shoddy. I can go down and score 2 goals in the 1st period only to have the CPU go down and score 2 goals in 30 seconds.

Wueste 09-17-2012 11:18 AM

EASHL drop-in games pretty much suck now if you aren't already Superstar. There's just no comparison. Plus I swear to god 75% of my teammates required "special" schools

BigT2002 09-17-2012 11:34 AM

I can already tell I"m not doing a lot of the things in this game that I used to play before.

squidz* 09-17-2012 11:34 AM

Goalie rating in this game (at least for my playstyle) is incredibly important apparently. Playing with Ottawa (for our league) Anderson is just awful. Simply doesn't make saves. A lot of the time, he just seems to let shots go without making an attempt on them. While practicing in Play Now with the Wild, Backstrom rarely gets scored on by just a shot. Every goal is either a breakaway with a good move, or it's a buried rebound. Playing in HUT, I got stuck with Ty Conklin as a goalie and he leans far more towards the Backstrom end of the sphere.
