I feel like a lot of the vet guys are saying the right things, saying that they'll stay in the area and continue to skate with each other...but the thing is, the longer this lockout goes the more likely they're going to bolt to get some games in.

Unless players get hurt I don't really care what they do during the lockout.

Cool! Then you can ignore the thread.

I'm sure there are plenty of people like me that want to know where our guys and and how they're performing.

jniklast 09-17-2012 11:41 AM

Didn't the SEL say they'd only accept players for the full season?

They did originally but they later changed that policy.

Thanks, I must've missed that.

Fitzy 09-17-2012 12:23 PM

I'm much more comfortable with the SEL, Finnish league or Czech league than I an the KHL.

I'm sure Frolunda would be thrilled to have Lundqvist back for a time, if he agreed to it.

New York Rangers LW Rick Nash & San Jose Sharks C Joe Thornton have agreed to deals with HC Davos of the Swiss League:

Fitzy 09-17-2012 12:46 PM

They played there together last lockout as well...

Barbara Underhill 09-17-2012 12:46 PM

Would be nice if Richards went to Davos was kind of hoping he and Nash would end up playing together prior to the season.

BFF's!

HatTrick Swayze 09-17-2012 12:46 PM

Am I wrong for being really pessimistic about all this?

The one bit of hope I had that this could be resumed in the next month or so was that players weren't flocking overseas yet.

They weren't officially locked out just yet, a lot of these guys have had a contingency plan in place the whole time. I don't think it changes much as far as when or if a deal will be made.

Weide 09-17-2012 12:55 PM

I'll just jump in here on the Rangers board to correct some things.

Allsvenskan changed their minds, Elitserien still says no to short term contracts.

Ah so it is the second division. That isn't ideal, by any stretch of the imagination for his development, but he will at least be playing and i'm sure it was because he wanted to be in Sweden.

Don't like Nash going back to the Swiss league. He doesn't need to develop chemistry with Thornton, for one. Two, don't need him getting hurt playing over in a less talented league. He couldn't wait a little longer?

I'd rather he be in shape when we come back. I suppose its a give-to-get and depends on your own value assessment. The Swiss league is a tough defensive league with some smartly coached squads, we saw that well enough when we played them last preseason, so its not like he'll be scoring at will and drinking 6 packs in between periods.

LOL...well I hope he isn't drinking beer in the locker room ala the Boston Red Sox. I don't know, I think I just rather he had waited a little longer. But I know it is a tough decision to make.

I will keep you all informed of Hagelins play in Södertälje, know a couple people there... I hope they do not use him in an Ogelthorpe role or look to replace Jason Strudwick (played there last year) with Carl Hagelin...;)

thornton calls the rangers soft -- > rangers get 2nd overall in the league during the regular season-- > nash signs with rangers -- > lockout occurs.... i bet they're in cahoots to destroy our season

New York RKY 09-17-2012 01:30 PM

I almost expect one of our big name players gets injured overseas. It just would be something that would happen to the Rangers.

It would definitely continue the "bad luck brian" theme.
