I doubt he'll miss a game...

Sens Mile 09-17-2012 12:27 PM

Thats not good news, that being said I am just thankful that it was not his knee after all the issues he has had with it

danishh 09-17-2012 12:34 PM

it's bad news, but hilarious at the same time.

would be amazing if the lockout lasts right until the point that milan is healthy. He wouldnt miss a pay day.

Legend Killer 09-17-2012 12:51 PM

How soft is this guy??

I wonder if this will be his excuse if he has another awful year...

You're saying it like last year was a really bad year.

OmniSens 09-17-2012 01:26 PM

Will still get paid and is only player to be able to use the facilities at Scotiabank Place. :amazed:

Lots of players should get injured and force the owners to pay them :sarcasm:

Not last year... Just the 2 before that.

HappyDude 09-17-2012 02:13 PM

Murray really missed the boat on trading this injury prone guy. His value was so high after last season. I predict he will revert back to his typical oft-injured style.

Like everyone else on the Sens roster?

Spezza and Alfredsson are the only Sens forwards, other than Michalek, who have scored more than 40 points in a season in their career. If we traded him, we'd need a top six forward back.

benjiv1 09-17-2012 02:27 PM

My source tells me its a sports hernia. Nothing to worry about.

Everyone else on the Sens roster had awful seasons 2 years ago?? Alfie over PPG and Spezza just under is brutal?? Fisher's 53 points was bad??

33 and 34 point seasons are bad for your alleged best winger... at least in my opinion

Caeldan 09-17-2012 03:56 PM

Hmm.. so if we have the only player not locked out... does that mean we win the cup by default if the season is lost? :)

there are players on other teams.

eg: kesler, gaborik, pronger, savard.

All of the injured players will participate in a skills competition to determain the winner of the Stanley Cup, Richard, Hart, Norris, Selke, and Lady Byng.

CanadianHockey 09-17-2012 05:08 PM

Pronger's flying elbows will win every award.

Even the Lady Byng.

JackBauer 09-17-2012 05:10 PM

I hope half the Rangers and Leafs teams goes down with injuries in the next day. We'll have hockey in a week.

One elbow to his head and any comeback is probably long gone. Oh the irony.

The TSN article specifically stated that Michalek currently is the only one not locked out. Must have something to do with the timing of the surgery.

Find it odd that in another thread there was a translation about how he was feeling good /had a good contract and didn't want to risk it in a czech league.

Yeah, it CLEARLY said that:

The injury means the 27-year-old winger becomes the only player on the team roster who is not officially locked out by the NHL.

Considering its only a hernia, he probably is feeling well all things considered.

Now if something was wrong with his knees, its probably a different story.

There was speculation during the last lockout that some players opted for surgery rather than continue with rehab because it meant they would get paid during the lockout. The Leafs paid Mogilny and Belfour for the entire lockout last time around. As long as the injury is hockey related, the player gets paid.

The reason Michalek doesn't want to risk his contract by going to Europe is that any player who goes over there during a lockout has to pay for their own insurance. With Michalek's injury history, he'd probably be paying a lot, adn if he gets injured over there, his NHL contract could be voided.

That's why Crosby probably won't be playing hockey anywhere during the lockout. With his scrambled brains, he will pay a fortune in insurance, if he can get any at all, and #2, that's a huge contract to risk just to play in Europe.
