Daniil Tarasov
Anyone seen him play in the USHL and any clue why he wasn't drafted?

Just saw that he signed to the Worcester Sharks and his numbers in the USHL look really good, plus some of the skills he shows (just practice obviously) make the other players look really out of place

45 seconds in

Quite good english too

The Penguins invited him to camp before the 10-11 season.

That's all I got.

playing in Worcester (AHL) I believe. Though I don't know why he's played only one game.

I don't know much about this feller either but he recently was moved down to the San Francisco Bulls.

So far he has a couple assists in two games played.

I went to the game this past Saturday against the Stockton Thunder and it seemed like they only played him for about 10-12 minutes. He didn't seem comfortable yet and nothing really clicked for him when I was watching.

I'll be curious to see what his ice time looks like as the season wears on assuming he stays with the Bulls for a while - and what he's able to do with it.

Looks like he's heating up a bit as he has 3g and 7a in 11 games played with the Bulls. I'll be at HP Pavilion tonight watching the Bulls take on the Thunder once again and hopefully Tarasov does well! :handclap:

My report back from the game. I watched him a bunch last night - seems like he's on either the second or third line, those two lines probably played about the same amount last night since the top line was playing poorly.

He was the most impressive skater on the Bulls in my opinion, definitely had a lot of speed out there and put himself in good position, looked very solid on his skates. He did some good things at both ends of the ice and looked a lot more comfortable. He also dropped the gloves and dominated in a fight. It was a very nice game for him despite not scoring a point.

Short update.

Ever since some of the guys left to play in the NHL Tarasov has been playing in Worcester again and has now scored a point in the last 5 games he's played. What's more impressive is that this is despite the fact the Sharks have lost 4 out of 5 and only scored 11 goals as a team in that period of time. He now has 2 goals and 4 assists with Worcester in 9 games.

2 more goals tonight including the gwg late in the 3rd... So how does his contract work. Lets just say he continues impressing, which might normally warrant a call up.. Do/can the Sharks sign him or are they at the limit, could another NHL team sign him and call him up?

He was special in the USHL so I am not surprised he is putting up decent numbers in the AHL. His line was scary good 2 years ago with Brian Ferlin, Blake Coleman and Tarasov. Last year he played with Sean Kuraly, so it is wasnt a surprise when the Sharks picked him up. I am sure they scouted the ICE games as they drafted Kuraly as well.

But the sharks cant call him up right?

No, no NHL team holds his rights - he's free to sign an NHL contract anywhere.

He's been very good for the Worcester Sharks and the above poster is correct, the Sharks scouting staff saw him (and liked him) playing for the Indiana Ice (as I was typing this he scored another goal).

Sharks signed Tarasov today along with Nieto and Tierney, so happy.
