Not in English, but you get the idea.

If the Isles aren't already one of the more popular teams in Switzerland, they will be shortly. Lucky ********.

blinkman360 09-28-2012 09:19 AM

I believe Roman Josi of the Preds also signed with Bern. I've thought before about how perfect he would look next to Streit on the blue-line, only it was as an Islander.

Still, could be good having him play with our two best players. Could spark some interest in him playing on the Island some day.

where's Nino playing?

Well, he probably just wanted to see what it's like to play a home game in front of a huge crowd...

Well that seemed a bit unnecessary.

cause weekend games against inner division teams and nhl "power houses" aren't usually sell outs

Before being drafted in the NHL draft, a KHL team drafted Tavares. With the Canadian press trying to convince Tavares to refuse to play for the NYI, to force a trade to the Leafs, Tavares refused, saying he just wanted to play in the NHL, for whoever draft him.

Yes. I'm sure Tavares secret dream is to be locked out of the NHL, playing in some lesser league in Switzerland:sarcasm:

SLAPSHOT723 09-28-2012 11:07 AM

Very happy he'll be with Streit and that he's playing in general. Good luck JT!!

Jaks4Ever 09-28-2012 11:10 AM

Bern is NOT a huge crowd for any NHL Player. But of course it's a different atmosphere and a big arena for Europe... Anyway Tavares just wants to play premier Hockey and I think he made a good choice joining Streit. Plus the NLA is competitve league this days.

AND I get to see JT live again :D:handclap:

Tavares' fantasy !
(I always dreamed playing hockey in Bhutan ... my litle fantasy !)

I saw good looking girls in Football dress and stockings playing ... Football of course ! (american !) their little fantasy ! (beware ... this one is contagious i feel !)

++

Don't worry, Tavares will be well treated ... it is SCB, the biggest attendance in Europe ... almost 17'000 average/game.

good and speedy hockey. Not the worst team in Europe (although sometimes ... :help:)

A contender to the cup.

All in all a good choice.

++

And by the way ... he will be Hans Tavares here !
John + Hans = Johanes ... the root of both names. So John is Hans here ;)

Hans, reminds me of the SNL skit...

Hopefully Hans' stay in SC Bern is a short one.

SLAPSHOT723 09-28-2012 11:41 AM

Hans Tavares

PWJunior 09-28-2012 12:00 PM

Looks like Johnny, I mean Hans signed a 2-month contract according to IPB. Good for him, not a good sign regarding the lockout according to them.

Quote:

Tavares is the first North American born Islander to sign in Europe during the lockout and is also one of the club’s NHLPA representatives, a sign that we could be in this lockout for the long haul.

Islanderfan17 09-28-2012 12:39 PM

Happy to see him there rather than Russia and it's cool he's playing with Captain Streiter. Anyone know if there is a way to get streams of their games?

Homeland Security 09-28-2012 12:41 PM

Good to see him land somewhere. God this lockout needs to end!!!

Being an Islander fan for so long sucks.

How about SC Bern is happy to have landed HIM.

holyprime 09-28-2012 02:34 PM

Too bad Hans only arrives next Tuesday, would've been awesome to see him tomorrow, eventough he'll play on an opposing team. a few more signings like this and i've got to rethink that "the lockout gotta end soon" thing :naughty:

Its on pay-tv, so to watch the games live you'll need a swiss residence adress or phone. I dont think there's a stream available.

Exactly. Maybe he would see some large crowds in Switzerland. Especially with their natives Streit and Josi.
His skills might shine through on the bigger ice and he is sure to get more time to do things on the ice in that league as opposed to the NHL.
