CHL Announces Top 10 Rankings - Week 3

Here's the list guys.

Just want to ask a question regarding this list. Why are the London Knights 4th with a record of 2-2, when the Oshawa Generals have been basically demolishing their opposition and have a 4-1 record, but are ranked 9th?

Or how the only other perfect team in the CHL is not on the list at all...not even an honorable mention. Kingston is 3-0 and nowhere near the list.

These rankings are never very accurate. They give a general idea of the best teams, but not always. To answer your question, I think it works as almost a ladder system, a team up high on the list really needs to blow up to be removed from the list, and conversely, a team not on the list really needs to light in on fire to get on the list.

Because London's crap never ever stinks (well, we know it does but the media isn't aware of it!)

I wouldn't start taking these rankings seriously until another couple of weeks...

To answer the question, it isnt a list to compile the highest point totals, its a list that takes into account, record, opponent, play etc. They arent just factoring in statistics to determine who goes where, they are watching these teams and seeing how they play as a whole, something that doesnt always show up on a score sheet or standings list.

Kingston will not make this list, everyone and their aunt knows that while they should be a playoff team in the OHL and are off to a hot start (its only 3 games), that they wont be a league contender, at least as is.

Oshawa is only where they are because they didnt start the season as a top contender either. Many suspected they would do well, and could contend, but it wasnt written into stone like it was with Kitchener, London etc.

If you are at the top and drop a couple games this early, you will free fall, see Plymouth for example. When you arent rated top 10 or in the HM, you need to be lights out to get the attention, and beat some of the teams in this list, otherwise you wont move up.

None of this is fact, but having watched this list the last couple years, its pretty obvious that its been fairly accurate, and that the standings arent based simply on stats.

Gotcha, and I know it's only 3-5 games into the season so I know better enough to not take this list serious - I was just surprised.
