Pair of Panthers Prospects Hurt

Two of the American Hockey Leagues more profile players are battling bad luck.
San Antonio Rampage forward Gregory Campbell, son of NHL Executive VP, Colin Campbell will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a broken nose and cheek bone after he was hit the face with a puck during a game on Friday.
Meanwhile, sources told Sportsnet another Florida Panthers' top prospect, Nathan Horton, is likely lost for the season after he re-injured his shoulder earlier this week.

Horton is a bust. That guy is the most injury prone player I've seen. Even Eric Lindros didn't get hurt this often this early.

Man, we should've picked Staal or Zherdev. Too bad, Horton could be an allstar, but I highly doubt he will ever be good with his shoulder.

The same thing was said about Tuomo Ruutu one or two years ago.

Well, let's hope he can come back. I think a year off, maybe he can recover.

you obviously don't know much about him...

besides his nhl career he hasn't been very injury prone... his shoulder injury was fluke as was his broken jaw. He'll bounce back and will be that pf star needed in florida... if you dont want him Toronto will take him!

Yep, but the problem is this is a re-injured shoulder, which does make you start to worry. That being said, I'd not start calling him a bust yet. Antropov went through some bad injury troubles, but he still did contribute two seasons ago nicely...mind you that's about all he's done...the ship has not sailed on Mr. Horton just yet.

Horton, 2nd for Antropov, 1st? :)

I'd even give you antropov, stajan for horton, 1st.

hit in the face with a puck=crap luck

bruins4777* 01-30-2005 09:50 PM

Horton....bust...WOW.

Habsfan 32 01-30-2005 10:04 PM

Horton is very far away from a bust and he is just not lucky but if he takes his time to let his shoulder heal (sp??) he should be ok.

phew, so there's hope yet.

Horton might yet recover and be an Antropov-level contributor! :yo:

I think the antropov comparison is off. I mean, Horton is a much better prospect and IS projected higher than antropov was as a prospect. Despite the "glass man" that is somewhat showing, Horton definently has a higher talent level than antropov. In one season horton has scored highlight reel goals that antropov hasn't scored his entire career. Hell Horton has dominated in the NHL like antropov only wish he could

despite my cruel taunting, i don't think he was comparing upsides..just showing that antropov recovered, and so too might horton.

Possibly, but he'll never be Kyle Wellwood !

Hate to say it but I told you he was injury prone. The guys shoulder just isn't strong and thats where he would need it to be the strongest with his game.

Ummm... he must have messed up his shoulder throwing a punch because I dont see how taking a punch would injure a shoulder :dunno: you must know something that I dont :lol

The force going to the head ended up shattering his shoulder. There is no other way to explain it.

Stewart broke Horton's jaw in a fight the year before they were drafted.
