'This is devastating for the game'

According to Jeremy Roenick, after they reach a new CBA, the players and owners need to come up with something to let the fans know the lockout was worth it.

I would support a "Each Player give Davis $500.00" kind of reachout program.

They'd have my support, and I go find any of you punks who tried to stop watching the game, and have someone bigger than you knock some sense into your ungrateful *****..

I don't remember

the NHLPA agreeing to a cap after 3 years if the 24% rollback didn't work.

Can someone clairify that for me.

thanks.

Amazingly enough...

it seems as though Brooks of the Post was right about the 3 years soft cap going to a hard cap afterwards.

I don't remember hearing anything about it until now.

Why dont they use that?? Thats cost certainty, if the luxury tax doesnt work, they go to a hard cap. Why isnt this being used??

Why couldn't they just roll back salaries from day 1 of the season, stop blowing the whistle every 15 seconds, and reduce goalie equipment?

A new CBA could've been worked out in the meantime, and if the added savings wasn't enough for a particular team(s), then it would be time for them to cease operations...

instead we are left with this mess... all are to blame, but it was the owners who locked the doors, it's the owners who are insisting on a hard card from day 1 of the leagues return, which is sure to send the game into the sewer forever...

I fault the players not for accepting crazy contracts from stupid people, but for actually believing that these same fools along with Bettman, could be part of a long term solution... so in that sense, i believe the players needed to save the game from the owners, not save the owners from themselves...

Now all of the architects of this grand failure want the players to have their salaries tied directly to leagues ability to market and grow the game??

It's almost worth having the PA delcare a salary cap as a viable option, just as long as Bettman and his rif raf are out of the game for good... maybe that is not negotiating in good faith, but i call it smart business... why give a guy second chance to ruin something he did with such ease the first time around?
