Ducks Classic games to be televised on Primeticket

Not sure why they are not showing our Cup winning run but it will be fun to see the '03 run again.

Quote:

FoxSports West and Prime Ticket will show classic Kings and Ducks games from their respective Stanley Cup runs in place of games that have been canceled through Oct. 24 because of the NHL lockout.

Games from the Ducks’ 2003 championship run will be shown in a block the next two Tuesdays, and games from the Kings’ recent run will be shown the next two Wednesdays. A Fox spokeswoman said each block will consist of two games of 2 1/2 hours each, starting with the first round.

If more games are canceled more “classic” games are likely to be aired. And with no progress reported in Thursday’s labor talks and no additional talks scheduled, those classics are bound to get a lot of airing.

Here’s the schedule:

Prime Ticket

Oct. 16, 7 p.m.—Ducks at Detroit, Round 1 Game 1, April 10, 2003. Ducks win in triple overtime.

Oct. 16, 9:30 p.m.—Ducks vs. Detroit, Round 1 Game 4, April 16 2003. Ducks sweep the Red Wings out of the playoffs with an overtime victory. Jean-Sebastien Giguere saved 165 of 171 shots in the series.

Oct. 23, 7 p.m.—Ducks at Dallas, Round 2 Game 2, April 26, 2003. Mike Leclerc’s overtime goal gave the Ducks a 2-0 series lead.

Oct. 23, 9:30 p.m.—Ducks vs. Dallas, Round 2 Game 6, May 5, 2003. Sandis Ozolinsh’s late goal clinched the series and launched the Ducks into the conference finals.

Very cool! I hope they play some Selanne/Kariya games if the lockout keeps going.

Just get the 2007 DVD box set.

I hope they air the 2009 playoffs. Even that second round was awesome.

I do have the box set. Was just wondering why they are showing 2003 instead of 2007.

Especially when the first sentence says "from their respective Stanley Cup runs."

Damn Skippy 10-13-2012 01:24 PM

Each team has had more than one run.

True but each team has had only one run that resulted in the cup. And since they are showing the Kings Cup winning run, one should expect the 07 run and not the 03. Otherwise they should show the Kings 93 run

"Stanley Cup run" to me means winning the Cup. Otherwise it would be a "Finals run."

Damn Skippy 10-13-2012 08:01 PM

Stanley Cup Finals run?

They may, in the future, but also consider that 2003 is only about a decade ago. 1993 is two decades. The quality of the broadcast is going to be quite a bit worse for the 93 playoffs.

Well, yes and no. The last round is generally considered to be the Cup Finals, but the playoffs themselves are just the NHL playoffs. A Cup run works for me. It's just not a Cup-winning run.

I always thought a cup run, was more of a good try. Everything from, a team that has the ability to win and for some reason falls short, to a team winning the cup.

They are playing a game between us and Dallas in the 02-03 playoff run right now on NHLN.

Double OT now. I hope we win.

EDIT: oh, yeah I remember this game. It's the 5-OT game. Nice. It's like I've got an entire game to watch.

Cancelled NHLN when they locked out

Yeah once baseball stopped I cancelled Fox Sports too, no reason for paying for a channel when there's going to be nothing on that I watch.

Apparently it must be out of kindness for McSorley that they don't show that 93 run. The Kings might well have won a cup in 93 if not for the stupidity of McSorley.

Rusty just took a penalty :(

Detroit scores

2faded 10-16-2012 09:54 PM

Anyone know why the Ducks game is blacked out on Prime Ticket for DirecTV?
