Jussi Trollinen & HF Caniac's Super Awesome Simulated Season Thread

Thought it'd be simpler to keep everything to one thread. Please feel free to offer GM and Coaching advice. Running a team can't be that hard right? Also, I'll try to get a new DVR Recorder asap for video, but until then, I'll only be able to upload stills. In addition to box scores and such not of course.

As I'm sure most of you already know, we beat the Winnipeg Jets last nite 3-2 thanks to a last minute power play goal by Eric Staal.

Next order of Business is we're at the Vancouver Canucks tomorrow.

Our current lineup is:

Jordan Staal(A)//Eric Staal(C)//Jarome Iginla
Alexander Semin//Jussi Jokinen//Jeff Skinner
Tuomo Ruutu//Jerermy Welsh//Chad LaRose
Drayson Bowman//Tim Brent//Patty Dwyer

Tim Gleason(A)//Joni Pitkänen
Jamie McBain//Justin Faulk
Jay Harrison//Joe Corvo

Cam Ward
Justin Peters

Let's get ready to go people :D

Carolinas Identity 10-14-2012 07:08 PM

First order of business. Dallas just offered me their 2nd this year for Joe Corvo. Yay or Nay. I'll count the votes at 2am EST (midnite my time) and go from there.

Stephen Goalbert 10-14-2012 08:20 PM

Pitkanen's already out for the year. Wouldn't do it.

HisIceness 10-14-2012 08:52 PM

He just had a hat-trick. Obviously primed for a big year. Gonna have to nay.

Also regarding tomorrows game, I has good feeling we is gonna win.

halleJOKEL 10-14-2012 08:54 PM

Wat.

I like the cut of your jib sir.

Oenatzu 10-15-2012 07:13 AM

You obviously have no coaching experience since you are playing Chad on the third line.

Mr Whipple 10-16-2012 01:37 AM

That is sooo accurate. Ward letting in a softie with 2 seconds left in the game to lose the shutout. :shakehead

tarheelhockey 10-16-2012 02:02 AM

What is this "empty net goal" you speak of?

Carolinas Identity 10-17-2012 03:11 AM

So we still have Corvo, and we put our undefeated 2-0-0 record on the line tonite against the Oregon Anaheim Ducks.

Jordan Staal(A)//Eric Staal(C)//Jarome Iginla
Alexander Semin//Jussi Jokinen//Jeff Skinner
Tuomo Ruutu//Jerermy Welsh//Chad LaRose
Drayson Bowman//Tim Brent//Patty Dwyer

Tim Gleason(A)//Joni Pitkänen
Jamie McBain//Justin Faulk
Jay Harrison//Joe Corvo

Cam Ward
Justin Peters

Anyone wanna offer coaching suggestions, or just roll with what's working for the time being?

HisIceness 10-17-2012 06:35 AM

Well I wouldn't worry about the lines. After all, Hurricanes are naturally more stronger than Ducks.

Heres an example and this is just a little wind.

So this should be an easy win, as long as Tim Peel isn't reffing.

Caniac125330 10-17-2012 11:46 AM

I'd start Pete Dawg tonight, were playing the kings tomorrow and Ward will need to be fresh.

Game starts at midnite Eastern. So, we have a few hours. If no one else objects between now and then, we'll get Pete out on the ice :)

HisIceness 10-17-2012 01:12 PM

As long as he promises not to blow any 3rd period leads.

Otherwise, go for it JP60.

DaveG 10-17-2012 01:57 PM

I'll put it this way. Which game do you think you have the best chances of getting the 2 out of? If you think that LA is a bit too daunting even with Ward in net then go with Wardo here. If you think he can backstop you to victory, go with Humpy Dawg here.

I think humpy dawg could beat the ducks, and if EVERYONE brings their A game , Ward can beat the Kings.

Verdict is in:

Gotta be honest, didn't really see this one playing out like it did.

Carolinas Identity 10-18-2012 01:09 AM

Peters had a couple "adventures" in this game, for sure, and I was honerstly amazed it was 1-0 after the first, but he settled down nicly afterwards. Aside from the fact that it seems no one on this team can win a face off more than 50% of the time I'd say we're looking pretty solid.

We face the 0-3-0 Kings tomorrow.

Also, I cant wait to buy a new recorder, cause my camera sucks and I cant take pics without having weird lines appear on the screen :(

semin4captain 10-18-2012 05:55 AM

i look at nhl goal scoring leaders and where do i see iginla?! last page! why are paying jerome iginla 7 million to score 0 goals? send em to the ahl, call up a real HEART AND SOUL guy liek daple or saneguouanitti!!!

HisIceness 10-18-2012 01:27 PM

Jwilly will probably score a hat trick tonight.

Caniac125330 10-18-2012 05:31 PM

Question. If this is be a GM, how the hell did Calgary agree to the Iginla trade?

Dunno, I noticed when I started it back at the end of September that he was on their trading block, and when looking at what I had that they would want, both Tlusty and Dalpe were on it. I threw in a pick to make it sweeter and they were all over it. If anything it might be a slight overpayment on our part.

Anyway, so Ward is back in net for his second big game this week (first was Vancouver). Lineups are unchanged and the team seems to be rolling well. Outside of some faceoff issues that may need to be addressed down the road, I don't think we have any glaring weaknesses.
