Haven't studied up on NCAA yet, but with the season coming up shortly I gotta get started. NC State ACC favorites? Nice.

Yeah, the U is supposed to be pretty good for a change this season. We shall see.

Great moments at Midnight Madness are not just the domain of power conference teams. As demonstrated by Craig Heatherly, the men’s basketball coach at NAIA Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI.

Heatherly proposed to girlfriend Linaya Hass, Davenport’s dance coach, in an incredibly creative way at the Panthers’ Midnight Madness celebration last week.

Heatherly dressed up as the school’s mascot, Pounce the Panther, and participated in a dance contest with Hass — without Hass knowing that it was Heatherly in the costume. When Heatherly feigned an injury, Hass came over to help, at which point Heatherly revealed himself and popped the question.
Hass quickly said yes. Davenport’s players and dancers both stormed the court to celebrate what we’re calling the runaway winner for “Best Midnight Madness Moment of 2012.”

Yeah State's prettymuch loaded... which means they're going to implode in epic fashion

seriously though, so glad to see someone other then Duke or UNC as ACC favorites, it's been years since that's been the case. Even the loaded Wake team with Chris Paul wasn't the favorite to win the conference that year.

Will be interesting to see how WVU fares this year. They got in some key transfers that could put the Mountaineers right back where they were before last year when they were a serious tourney threat.

Yeah, last time was what, 01/02 Maryland? Just guessing. I remember a lot of people were high on that team even though Duke was the defending champion.

Sounds about right. I want to say there was a lot of hype around Georgia Tech after that 2004 Final Four, but even then I don't think they were outright favorites like the 01-02 Terps.

Man, with no hockey, this **** just needs to get going already.

Hopefully UNT can make it back to the tournament and maybe win a game in the tournament. Gonna be one of the better mid-major teams in the country. Go Mean Green!

Usually follow early college basketball intently but none of the tournaments have really started yet

Look at the region where those teams are from, most years a top 5 consists of east coast teams and a team from Kentucky. The fact the top is made up of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan is pretty damn cool to see.

Go Gaels

DaveG 10-31-2012 09:42 PM

I have to admit Michigan at #5 looks kindof iffy to me. But that said, I'd love to see Beilein win his first title. The guy's a class act and one of the best pure tactical coaches in the game.

StringerBell 10-31-2012 10:18 PM

Glad to see Indiana at #1. They were my favourite team to watch last year, sucked that they got stuck with that Kentucky matchup so early last season.

Can't really get in to College BBall until after new years, although I'll still watch the occasional game before that if I'm board.

You are missing out on good tournaments then

Good games happen before conference play

It's mostly because of the NFL(fantasy), NCAAF, NBA and NHL going on all at once. I still watch some of those tourney's but I'm not really into it just yet.

Maybe without the NHL this year I'll start watching sooner.
