Hopefully I can catch the very last bit of this game, but it doesn't seem like I can... :(

1972 10-20-2012 09:23 AM

Not alot of youth outside of Galiev on Hershey.

Zip15 10-20-2012 09:53 AM

Thinking about driving up from Baltimore for this one.

I read somewhere that they had the oldest opening day roster in the AHL. It's a veteran-laden lineup and IIRC averaged out to 26+ y/o. The article also mentioned that they averaged 9,800+ in attendance last year, which was best in the league.

They play to win. They operate to win a championship first, develop second. That's why they have such a great fan base.

Expect tonight's game to have a delayed start:

Blue n Gold Forever 10-20-2012 06:39 PM

What's the deal with the crowd size? Seems kind of empty in there.

SlugLife978 10-20-2012 06:43 PM

Anybody have a working stream? The firstrow stream is gone. :help:

ckg927 10-20-2012 06:53 PM

1-1 in the late stages of the 1st.

Scoring:

Hershey: Taffe 1(Mitchell & Schilling) at 7:57
Rochester: Schofield 1(MacKenzie) at 14:38

ckg927 10-20-2012 07:04 PM

Yeesh. The Bears drop a pair of goals in the waning minutes. Mitchell makes it 2-1 Hershey, then Kundratek scores while Brennan sits out a cross-checking penalty.

3-1 Bears after 1.

Woodhouse 10-20-2012 07:16 PM

Sorry, a little busy, but a quick first period recap:
  • HER 1 - RCH 0: Taffe (Mitchell, Schilling); backhand pass from Mitchell finds Taffe
  • HER 1 - RCH 1: Schofield (MacKenzie); flukey knuckler goes in
  • RCH 2-on-1; Girgensons pass broken up by Schilling
  • Hodgson turnover, HER forward fans on ensuing scoring chance
  • HER 2 - RCH 1: Mitchell (Stafford, Orlov); wide shot gets tipped on goal, sneaks between post and Leggio's left skate
  • Brennan gets whistled for cross-checking
  • HER 3 - RCH 1: Kundratek (Taffe, DiSalvatore) PP; scrambling PK, couldn't clear again, x wrists home a rebound
  • End of one, HER leads 3-1 and in shots 14-9
The second period has started and Pysyk quickly goes off for boarding.

jfb392 10-20-2012 07:19 PM

Edit: 5-5 now.

Can't win without vets in this league!!! :sarcasm:

gdsmack267 10-20-2012 07:51 PM

wow 5-5 now, they ened to stop giving the bears power plays. Also brennan on the pp is so fun to watch

Woodhouse 10-20-2012 07:58 PM

And the second period recap:
  • Pysyk, Brennan with early penalties
  • HER 4 - RCH 1: DiSalvatore (Taffe, Potulny) PPG; 5-on-3
  • HER 4 - RCH 2: Rankin (Foligno, Biega); Foligno finds an open Rankin from behind the net who snipes it top shelf
  • Girgensons sacrificing his body to block a shot
  • Leggio stops a HER breakaway, which was nearly a 2-on-0; yay defense
  • Porter takes an elbowing penalty, then scrums it up for another two (this one offsets with a matching HER penalty though)
  • HER hits the post on the ensuing PP, as the PK scrambles again; well ugh...
  • HER 5 - RCH 2: Stoa (Stafford, DiSalvatore) PPG; Stafford's shot deflects twice; HER now 3-of-4 on the PP
  • Hodgson tripped up at center ice, Mitchell off for HER; nothing doing on that PP opp.
  • DiSalvatore puts it out of play, gets a delay of game penalty
  • HER 5 - RCH 3: Mancari (Varone, Porter) PPG; beats Sabourin to the low right corner
  • HER 5 - RCH 4: Foligno (Hodgson, Brennan); Hodgson finds Foligno at the far post
  • Puck bounces away from MacKenzie, near breakaway for HER but Finley covers; MacKenzie off for hooking though
  • Leggio with big save quickly; makes 2-3 more on the next sequence; Pysyk clears it twice to kill penalty
  • Flynn finds Biega, who hits the side of the net on a rush
  • HER 5 - RCH 5: Brennan (Foligno); snaps a wrister top-shelf under the bar
  • Finley initial boarding penalty; and two fights: Finley-Wellar, MacKenzie-Mitchell; well there goes a RCH d-pair; MacKenzie, Mitchell get game misconducts
  • End of two, tied 5-5 and shots are 31-15 in favor of HER

sabresfan129103 10-20-2012 08:09 PM

Sounds like a crazy game. Foligno with 3 points so far.

ckg927 10-20-2012 08:09 PM

Guess both teams decided to stop playing D and give the fans their money's worth!

Woodhouse 10-20-2012 08:13 PM

The third RCH goal is now credited to Adam (Mancari, Porter), so he must've got a piece of it.

Woodhouse 10-20-2012 08:19 PM

And RCH is already down again, as a Kane saucer pass from behind the net finds Sjogren in front, 6-5 HER. Sjogren fans on another scoring chance once play resumes.

Woodhouse 10-20-2012 08:22 PM

Foligno hammers the HER d-man in the corner. RCH PP upcoming.

Woodhouse 10-20-2012 08:24 PM

Good pressure, 2-3 saves by Sabourin, a post by McNabb; cleared, PP over.
