Calgary - Phoenix

Klesla, Gordon for Stajan, Comeau and Smith?

Counter ?

Columbus says no, they don't need dead weight.

Which smith ?

ALI 10-21-2012 09:20 PM

i think they have too many D and Stajan could really help them out if he gets Ice time. Plus Comeau is better then Gordon and Smith is a depth D but if you want take him out.

Phoenix loves Klesla.

And Gordon. Two players worth every penny of their contracts. Can't believe we got rusty for Upshall and Lepisto.

Quite honesty, I wouldn't give you either or, let alone both for that return. Both are, in my honest opinion, premier penalty killers. Two of the more effective PKers in Coyotes history. Both are extremely important to the success of Dave Tippett's system.

This is the response I was expecting from Coyotes fans, and to be frank, they're 100% correct in thinking so. Bad deal here for Phoenix.

I don't feel like this really makes sense for anyone.

We need Stajan as our C depth is pretty lackluster right now.

Rabbit 10-22-2012 12:27 AM

I think if Phoenix trades for a center, it will be a number one. We have two 2nd line centers, a third line center, and an open roster spot for fourth. Most likely a callup.

ducky 10-22-2012 01:28 AM

Comeau scores more points but is not a better hockey player than Gornon. Phoenix gives up the 2 best players so NO trade.

Kaibur 10-22-2012 09:31 AM

Gordon's faceoff skills and ability to play in the defensive zone late in tight games makes him too important for Tippett's system. He replaced Fiddler and I would say did a better job for the money.

Klesla was an unexpected surprise. I thought he would just provide depth until he got injured again, but he was one of the best defensemen in the playoffs and he formed a really tight pairing with Schlemko for most of the season until Schlemko got injured. He's certainly a tradeable asset because of the depth, but he's not going to be given away when he's played so well and has a good contract.

Coyotes don't have a lot of needs right now, so unless an offer with a high ceiling center comes along, the Yotes will probably stand pat.

And yet, with the exception of this thread, they all share the same theme of "Flames should give my team quality players for nothing, you guys need to rebuild lol"

I agree.

Most are ridiculous, but thats HF. No homer wants to give value to get value.

Klesla and Gordon are both underrated. This would be a very good deal for Calgary, but doesn't help the Coyotes much.

This. Klesla and Gordon are both pk and shot blocking machines, and that is something our team truly relies on to win games. I cant see where parting with either of them is a good move

ComixZone 10-22-2012 05:15 PM

Unsure why anyone would take a chance on Matt Stajan at this stage. He simply hasn't given any reason whatsoever for another team to think he'll be able to turn it around playing somewhere else.

Maybe after a season under Hartley things may change...but I'm not holding my breath for anything other than an amnesty buy-out.
