He just cannot stay healthy

Naoko Funayama ‏@NaokoFunayama

Patrice Bergeron (HC Lugano) has upperbody injury. Day-to-day

BMC 10-25-2012 08:37 AM

Ugh.

chuckdobbins 10-25-2012 08:40 AM

Day to day. Doesn't worry me at all.

161 gp the past two years not counting playoffs..

As long as "upper body" doesn't mean head all should be fine..

Ratty 10-25-2012 08:45 AM

While the same thing could have happened while playing in a Bruins sweater, at least he,d be playing in a Bruins sweater.

^This.

Injuries are going to happen, whether you play in the NHL or your backyard. He should be fine.

Tuukka's injury has me more concerned, quite frankly.

Agreed 100% (and with Wham's quote that you pointed to, "as long as it's not his head.")

Injuries happen lockout or no, NHL or Europe...when it's the same or similar injury like Tuukka's, I get concerned.

"he just can not stay healthy"

?

I sware, the lockout is just making this place crazier than usual

Must be the phrase of the week or something.

Jack Donaghy 10-25-2012 09:48 AM

Look at the poster. It's borderline crazy how he loves to take shots at Bergeron. Old schtick, need a new one bud.

KnightofBoston 10-25-2012 09:49 AM

Players get injured playin hockey, it's a dangerous sport

My advice, find other things to occupy your time with so you don't lose sleep over it...

Edit - just realized who OP is. Figures

Thank's for pointing it out. Sigh.

You just have to

And yeah, it's hockey. Guys get hurt.

Dogberry 10-25-2012 10:41 AM

He probably got a bruise and is sitting out for precautionary reasons. Not worried. These guys aren't taking much in the way of chances... they'll probably sit out for a hangnail (upper body injury) or ingrown toenail (lower body injury).

What have you been watching the past couple of years? You know they won the Cup two years ago right?

Yes, but if you squint really hard, and look through your fingers most of the time, you won't see Bergeron at all, and you can pretend he wasn't on the team! :)

Yeah, well we're lucky he's still able to skate let alone be one of the best players in the league.

I'm sure it's just precautionary, like Tuukka's. No reason to risk injury, it's Switzerland..

I do wonder if a Bruin suffers a career threatening injury during this lockout will people be as cavalier....

Well, people are being "cavalier" in this particular thread because the OP loathes Bergeron and made an inane statement.

But, as I've noted before, these guys are professional athletes and sometimes they're going to get hurt, whether they're in Switzerland or Charlestown.

Take for example Cam Atkinson:

Quote:

Winger Cam Atkinson expects to be cleared by an eye doctor today to return to action with the Springfield Falcons after he suffered eye injuries when a resistance band slipped off his foot and hit him in the face on Sept. 30.

“The strap slipped off my foot and, like a giant rubber band, snapped me right in the eyes,” Atkinson said. “It was lights out. I couldn’t see a thing. My ears were ringing. My eyes started watering like crazy. Thank God I had people around me.”

Injuries happen, no matter what. It's a hazard of living, and of playing pro sports.
