P. Kane for OEL

Very bored/curious as to what both fanbases would think. Personally i wouldn't trade Kane for much of anything (realistic) but OEL would be tempting.

PeterForsberg 10-25-2012 10:57 PM

I wouldn't accept if I were PHX.

Vankiller Whale 10-25-2012 11:00 PM

I would say yes if I were Phoenix, not sure about Chicago.

Phoenix has Yandle, Gormley, Rundblad, etc, and no star wingers to speak of really. Although I don't know how Kane would fair in Phoenix's system.

hbk 10-25-2012 11:00 PM

Phoenix fans pass.

It's a good offer but OEL is a franchise D man.

FUBAR McDangles 10-25-2012 11:02 PM

From an outside perspective, it seems fair to me.

Phoenix would get a great first line guy and someone they could market well("American superstar" or something could bring in a lot of casual fans down there. Who knows?) Chicago would get a great defender that would give them a ton of backend depth. And thats never a bad thing.

Montecristo 10-25-2012 11:03 PM

I think the trade is even in value but kanes character issues might make Phoenix back away

Violent By Design 10-25-2012 11:05 PM

Good value but PHX wouldn't touch this, you don't trade players like OEL.

Maybe Yandle+ for Kane, not sure how much interest Chicago would have in that.

Minimalist* 10-25-2012 11:14 PM

No from Phoenix.

OEL is an up and coming star #1 dman. While Kane is an elite winger, he also comes with some baggage.

I wouldn't want Kane on my team making an impression on my young up and coming star players. He's not a character guy, and not someone I want influencing my future lineup.

Value in a vacuum is probably close though.

When did Kane get so underrated...

Nah, its OEL that's sickeningly overrated right now. Franchise D-man, wa?...

This

Kane is worth more than OEL, but I don't see him fitting into Tippet's system at all. The fact that he is a winger also hurts his value when comparing him to a top-pairing defenceman.

Whoever said Yandle + is on to something, imo. As Chicago could use some depth, so Yandle + a forward could maybe work.

Kane has always been underrated. I would not do this if I was Chicago. They don't really need a guy like OEL, and Kane is their best offensive threat.

tsujimoto74 10-26-2012 12:12 AM

Phoenix should take this and run, IMO. They have a glut of young d-men who can bring what OEL does and no forwards anywhere near Kane's caliber.
No idea why Chicago would be into that though.

PierreMcGuire* 10-26-2012 12:23 AM

Can't see Chicago moving Kane, even for someone as good as OEL. That said, I'm not to sure the Coyotes would be too inclined to move OEL, even for someone as good as Kane.

At this point in time, I feel the deal is slightly better for the Coyotes.

Greasy Sliders 10-26-2012 12:45 AM

If no OEL , why not Rundblad + ?

Human 10-26-2012 12:58 AM

Phoenix needs to add here, but not bad as a starting point. Kane would do wonders for a franchise like the Coyotes in terms of merchandise.

airforceones25 10-26-2012 01:16 AM

If Phoenix wouldn't take that trade the NHL should take over the team.... Oh wait

The plus or pluses would have to be very significant.

The Perfect Human* 10-26-2012 01:42 AM

Hell, the Oilers will give them Eberle if they give up OEL

Walkingthroughforest 10-26-2012 01:51 AM

Um, Chicago hangs up the phone laughing if it's a straight swap.

After he shouted at a taxi driver.

SSoH 10-26-2012 02:21 AM

No thank you from Phx, I would do Yandle + a little something though.

letowskie 10-26-2012 02:25 AM

While purely on skill and talent, this deal is very close, I don't see how Kane could be worth the level of OEL. For all of his world class skills, we need to remember that Kane is not a team player, and is a potential cancer in any organization where he lands. He is not someone that you would want to build around, even though he certainly has tremendous abilities on the ice. Based on the whole picture of what they each brings to the team, OEL is by far the better choice here.

Tomas W 10-26-2012 02:27 AM

If we would try to rank value, Kane is more valuable than OEL, Kane is obviously more established. Of course there is the differencies in salary and such to consider.

I have a hard time to think that Chicago is that desperate to get defensmen, as they would trade away P.Kane.
