Getzlaf and/or Perry as rentals.

Just curious, as the very talked-about potential UFAs this upcoming offseason would be a HUGE boost to any playoff team at the deadline.

Ducks fans, before you take off my head, I know this is extremely unlikely to happen as it would depend on the following things:
- The Ducks having an abysmal season and deciding to go full-tank mode
- Getzlaf and/or Perry being unhappy and Ducks management not being confident in their ability to re-sign
- There being an NHL season, let alone one long enough for all of the above to happen (:()

So yeah, it's more of an interesting hypothetical and less of a possible reality, but I thought it would be worth discussing anyways. Such is the case during a lockout.

At TD if Getzlaf was expressing to be unwilling to stay in Anaheim after the season, probably Grabovski+cond 2nd for Getzlaf.

Schroeder + Connauton + 1st for Perry, if a futures package is wanted, and he does't want to re-sign.

Oh my god Sedin-Sedin-Perry would be nasty. I think Anaheim could get more though.

MandyAlwaysKnows 10-27-2012 09:46 PM

Milan Michalek for Corey Perry

It would be a ridiculous bidding war.

But there really is no chance with Getzlaf. Perry...maybe. It would take a lot of things going wrong.

I believe the last big time name player traded at the deadline was Marian Hossa in 2008 from Atlanta to Pittsburgh. So if either Getzlaf or Perry are traded at the deadline isn't the Hossa trade a good example to use of what Anaheim could want in return?

When you look at the trade now Atlanta got fleeced! Armstrong lol only good thing was the 1st in that

Thats a pretty bad offer, my guess is that either Kassian or Jensen one of your other top young players to have a chance at getting him. If Perry is made available I would be 10 teams would make serious offers.

I was just going positionally, offering our best C and best D prospect, as I think those are the areas Anaheim are weakest.

ColePens 10-27-2012 10:59 PM

I think Anaheim would need to be 100% sure they weren't re-signing... and I don't think any player would just openly admit that. It's plausible, just not a high percentage.

But yes... a bidding war like Hossa if not more.

ok, looks like Anaheim could use depth at almost every position

Quanity with alittle quality, you dont trade a 50 goal scorer from 2011 for players who may potentially never become NHLers or just decent players.

That is terrible. The Ducks will be looking for good prospects not projects.

Okay, okay...*ducks and cowers*

3 1sts? Seeing as most of our prospects are terrible anyways?

MandyAlwaysKnows 10-27-2012 11:34 PM

Nobody tops the Michalek offer so far. Yay!!! Ottowa gets Perry!!!1!!

That's more like it.. Would make sense for the Canucks to do what ever it takes to land him if he does become available.

Sedin-Sedin-Perry would be unfair.

Darcy Regier 10-27-2012 11:42 PM

my guess is any package would need to include a top 6 foward a top prospect and a 1st, remember that Perry is a 50 goal scorer in his prime.

A Sabres example package would likely need to be Stafford + Armia/Pysyk + 2013 1st

I know.:naughty:

But it would make getting a first from a Luongo trade(or elsewhere) of paramount importance. Wouldn't want to miss out on this coming up draft.

Getting a player like Perry should be higher priority than the draft don't you think?

how did Hossa not get that?

Armstrong was a top 9 foward at the time, and Esposito was a very good prospect at the time, not the same but close
