Deutschland Cup
Does somebody know when the official Rosters for the "Deutschlandcup" next Weekend will be announced? Could be a great Team Canada when you look at all the Players in Europe right now.
I live 1h from Munich and will be in attendance. |
Switzerland's roster has been announced already, but I couldn't find anything about the three other teams.
I guess it should be announced soon, the tournament starts in just one week. |
Slovak roster was released earlier this week:
Peter Hamerlík (Oceláři Třinec/CZE) 1982 Jaroslav Janus (Slovan Bratislava) 1989 Ivan Baranka (Ufa/KHL) 1985 Marek Ďaloga (HC Pardubice/CZE) 1989 Kristián Kudroč (Novosibirsk/KHL) 1981 Juraj Mikuš (LEV Praha/KHL) 1988 Michal Sersen (LEV Praha/KHL) 1985 Tomáš Slovák (HC Plzeň/CZE) 1983 Martin Štajnoch (Bratislava) 1990 Richard Stehlík (MODO/SEL) 1984 Mário Bližňák (Bratislava) 1987 Marcel Haščák (HC Košice) 1987 Marcel Hossa (LEV Praha/KHL) 1981 Marek Hovorka (Sparta Praha/CZE) 1984 Libor Hudáček (Bratislava) 1990 Michel Miklík (Bratislava) 1982 Juraj Mikúš (LEV Praha/KHL) 1987 Branko Radivojevič (Spartak Moscow/KHL) 1980 Rastislav Špirko (Ekaterinburg/KHL) 1984 Andrej Šťastný (Bratislava) 1991 Tomáš Záborský (Omsk/KHL) 1987 Peter Galamboš (Bilí Tigři Liberec/CZE) 1989 Tomáš Marcinko (HC Košice) 1985 Peter Ölvecký (Bratislava) 1985 |

i think that is last years Roster of Team Canada. Brathwaite has retired and Schneider is injured f.e.
EDIT: Must be two years ago cause Derek Hahn is playing for Ingolstadt since 2011 and not Straubing |
The slovak roster is this years roster, but the Canadien one is from 2010. I hope they release the rest of the rosters soon. I want to put these teams in my NHL 13 and see who comes out on top.

I`m watching hockey every week in the Stands in Germany. But the same Players that are playing at the Deutschlandcup are playing in the DEL, so its kind of boring for me. I was looking forward seeing some "NHL Stars", Switzerland is not far away from Germany... |
These tournaments exist for the coachs to try players, line combinations and work on their system, there is no point in trying to have the best possible team now.

For Canadas Point of View this is not right. Canada plays the Deutschlandcup every Year with Players from the DEL. These Players never played in a other Tournament. Even the Coach is not the "real" one. I`m not talking about best possible, but some NHL Players would have been nice. Maybe it`s also a insurance problem like the NHL Player from Germany who are also not playing. |

Just a guess, but I can't think of any other reason for Canada to play in this tournament. |

Coach will be Rich Chernomaz, longtime DEL Coach and now in Ingolstadt. The Rest of the staff are also "German based". Dont think Rich will be in play for any bigger tournament. I think its a bit like Spengler Cup, Canada has a big Name and trys to give a good show with little effort (costs). A Team Canada with Thornton,Nash,Giroux,Myers would have been great one hour away from my home, too bad... |

The Canadian goalie in this(Canada-Slovakia) game looks like a soup sandwich.
Having said that, it's cool to see some different international games. If the No-Hockey-League hadn't been locked out I wouldn't have heard of this tournament(also looking forward to the Spengler Cup again this year, I'm very much in the minority in this regard). |
I'm enjoying the Deustchland Cup, even if Team Canada's best player is Nigel freaking Dawes.
|
Just finished watching Germany beat Slovakia 2-0 and I could really go for some Calcium-Sandoz. Or Magnesium-Sandoz, for that matter.

Team Canada is mostly made of DEL players because Hockey Canada wanted it this way. |
