Linus Omark to Detroit?
 

I know he has been a cast off by the Oilers in favor of that boy band they have been assembling up there in Edmonton. He has meshed pretty well with Zetterberg in Ev Zug along with Brunner. What would it take to get him to Detroit? I'll start the bidding @ Abdelkader straight up.

Omark is more suited to the large european ice surface and that is where he is best

Detroit would never offer more than maybe a 5th rounder (if that) for Omark. If Omark can't crack the lineup of the league's worst team, even as a shootout specialist, how on Earth would he be a regular top 6er in Detroit? The only way this is worse for Detroit is if you are taking on Horcoff too.

Just what Detroit needs, more unestablished forwards.

Give us a 2nd and he is yours, the reason why it is such a high price is because we are selling him on a high.

Omark and a 5th for Emmerton.
Both players don't fit, bubble players and it couldn't hurt to change the scenery.

Not sending more than a low pick. If they are giving up a player and not just some minor league guy like a Lashoff which is probably more accurate. Emmerton is out the door lightyears before Abdelkader. Keep up the hate for the MSU kid there U of M fan, embarrassing you can keep that up once they are playing for the Detroit pro teams.

You can have Omark once you go to the Eastern Conference. Heck that can be the trade.

He's not worth anything and I honestly don't think he'll amount to much but he seems to have the ability. but can't bring it in the NHL.. least for the Oilers.


But damned if he goes Satan, Whitney, etc. on us so I want him in the Eastern Conference hehe.

Being a bad team doesn't make our forwards bad. Our top 4 wingers are as hard to beat out as any team in the league.


As for the proposal, I definitely hope Omark to Detroit happens, but I can't see him being worth more than a 3rd regardless of how well he does in Europe. He's always been able to score over there. It's scoring in the NHL that's questionable

This would be a hell of a fleese job if tambo could pull it off. More likely it would be a middling pick...3rd or 4th

I am not a big Omark fan but this is not a very good arguement. How many guys on your team are going to beat out Hall, Eberle, Hemsky, Yak for a spot on the top two wings?

The thing with Omark is in the right situation I think he can be productive. But if he is not on your top 2 lines forget it. There is no place for him on the Oil

Except he never had to beat Yakupov out last year, and even when Hall went down he was cut in favour of AHLer's, unless I am missing something.

True but the thing is he was just not in the teams plans at all so if nothing else they wanted to look at other players. I would not say he was given a great opportunity here, but neither did he earn one. By the team Hall etc started to go down he was done here.

Wasn't Renney not a big fan of Omark? Detroit has a good scouting report on this guy in house. Have to think Omark and Babcock are not a good match. Omark might skate better than Hudler, but has a lot of the same flaws. Even with as well as they have played together would think the Wings would hope Filppula or Franzen gets along even better playing out on left wing than Omark. Is it worth a low round pick? Maybe, but not if they aren't interested in really giving him a chance and he gets benched by Babs at the first available moment all the time.
