Couturier VS Schenn VS Henrique VS Hodgson

Which of these centres would you most want to build a team around?

bp spec 11-03-2012 09:05 PM

Toss up between Couturier and Schenn. Maybe I lean a bit towards Couturier.

PierreMcGuire* 11-03-2012 09:05 PM

Couturier.

CanucksSayEh 11-03-2012 09:09 PM

Henrique was such a boss in the Devils run so imma vote him. His mustache was pedophile like creepy too, awesome.

Vankiller Whale 11-03-2012 09:33 PM

Couturier
Henrique
Schenn/Hodgson

Izzy 11-03-2012 09:55 PM

Right now:

Henrique
Couturier
Hodgson
Schenn

From 2013 going forward:

Couturier
Henrique
Schenn
Hodgson

None are guys who you really build your team around but I would have Henrique 4th on the list. I also dont think Schenn will reach his full potential with the guys infront of him in Philly and will become more of a physical center. Hodgson will be givin every opportunity in Buffalo.

Couturier
Hodgson
Schenn
Henrique

I dont know that Couturier will be anything more than a 50 point player either, know one really knows who will be the best.

If Couturier, Hodgson, and Schenn reach their potential, I think you could build your team around them. Before his injury, Hodgson was the best prospect in the world. I think Schenn had the same pedigree, as well, and many scouts saw him as a Mike Richards-type player (back when Richards was a boss). I still feel that Couturier will have people kicking themselves, when they look back and realize that hell fell to the #8 spot.

I think all of those players can be PPG, first-line players and, in todays NHL, those are the kind of guys you can build your team around. Not everybody is Crosby, Malkin, or Stamkos.

I just don't think Henrique will be as good as the other three. I fear this year was a bit of an anomaly.

Couts/Henqrique.

I'm also huge fan of Schenns game.

PhillyBluesFan 11-04-2012 01:51 AM

I like Schenn and Couturier a lot but I would take Henrique without thinking twice

TheUnseenHand 11-04-2012 03:11 AM

If by build a team around you mean the guy who will have the best stats I'd say

Couturier
Schenn
Hodgson/Henrique

If you mean the best leader

Henrique
Everyone else.

I do agree with the notion that none of these players are guys you really build a team around. I'd say if you organized them by who has the most potential to be an integral part of a team it'd be:

Couturier
Henrique

Schenn
Hodgson

gretskidoo 11-04-2012 08:18 AM

I would never build a team around a 2C

tony d 11-04-2012 08:21 AM

Schenn
Hodgson
Couturier
Henrique

InjuredChoker 11-04-2012 11:13 AM

Probably Couturier.

Roo Mad Bro 11-04-2012 11:30 AM

Couturier
Schenn
Henrique
Hodgson

Depends whether Henrique's leadership, clutchness, performance in the postseason was a fluke. If not, he could be quite a valuable player.

LEAFS FAN 4 EVER 11-04-2012 12:48 PM

For me it was between Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn, however in the end I went with Couturier.

laundryman 11-04-2012 01:01 PM

I think Schenn is being underrated here. Between Couturier and Schenn I'd say Schenn is the more well rounded player at the moment (Couturier is obviously better defensively and has more room for improvement). I think Schenn will be better offensively and he's more physical than Couts. They're two of my favorite players so you can't go wrong either way.

As for the poll, I think it's a toss up between Henrique and Couturier. I went Couturier because I need to see more from Henrique (really only saw him in the playoffs).

lakai17 11-04-2012 04:21 PM

Schenn

billybudd 11-04-2012 04:52 PM

Two of these guys are awesome (or, in Couturier's case, going to be), but none of these guys are really "build a team around" type guys. I like Henrique, but franchise player, he is not.

Anyways, voted Couturier because I just like the way he plays, though he and Henrique are probably going to end up being indistinguishable in value over the long term, imo.

Hodgson has never impressed me and Schenn's a turtling punching bag who can't score and is never in position.

When has Schenn turtled? He sure as hell never turtled after crunching the Pens throughout the series.

Oh, but he got KO'd by a 230 lb tank in Kovalchuk. Such a "punching bag"

116 goals in 224 WHL games (315 pts). 9 goals in 14 AHL games. Only a matter of time before he gets comfortable in the NHL and starts to dominate both physically and on the score sheet.

He struggled in the regular season last year, but that's not uncommon for young players, especially when they battle injuries.

Mr Forever 11-04-2012 06:05 PM

Couturier easily.

He will be the second best player of the 2011 draft, fourth best at worst, Hamilton and Larsson could end up being better.

I can't believer he fell to 8th. NYI, Ottawa and Winnipeg really muffed up not drafting him.

Cheddabombs 11-04-2012 06:11 PM

Couterier for me. It's hard for me to determine which will be the better player but given the question of who I would build a team around, it is Couterier without a second doubt.

zytz 11-04-2012 10:49 PM

Do people actually WANT to build their teams around these types of players? They're all great in their own way, and guys that can probably slot into any team and be very solid. For me though, none of them really have any super stand-out aspect of their game that is something you want to build around. Gimme a guy like RNH to build around, Kessel you can build around, Kovy, Gaborik, Karlsson, are all players you can build your team around to maximize whatever aspect makes that player stand out Courtier is the best 'stand-out' player for me with his defensive game, but I don't think that you ever want to build around a defensive forward. Could be I'm understanding his offensive potential, but I chose Henrique- I think he has the best chance to be the most well-rounded player out of that group.
