just a thought...

...we should call the Caps to bring back Brouwer. YES, I said it

Blackhawkswincup 11-04-2012 04:09 PM

The guy who was brutal in top 6 role and is overpaid? Brouwer was MIA most of the playoffs (As per usual)

Yeah no thanks

IU Hawks fan 11-04-2012 04:11 PM

Eek. No.

UsernameWasTaken 11-04-2012 04:25 PM

no no no :shakehead
why?

Bubba88 11-04-2012 04:27 PM

guy was bad at times, nothing to argue about.

He was also some kind of physical and was well liked as teammate. I think having friends on the team is important. Need to have a good lockerroom

Sarava 11-04-2012 04:29 PM

Horrible idea  So glad we got Philip Danault for him.

UsernameWasTaken 11-04-2012 04:34 PM

they should start trying to integrate more of our prospects into the team (i.e. the ones who are ready - i'm not talking about rushing people or anything).

as far as "friends" on the team - does brouwer really matter? maybe he was liked (although, not by Q iirc), but presumably there are other likeable people on the team. they can be friends with each other

come to think about it - you don't really hear negative stuff about the personality of any of the players on the team. although maybe i haven't paid enough attention.

hockeydoug 11-04-2012 05:18 PM

Please, no more Brouwer. I don't think those wheels or hands are going to get much better. He still has to solidify a role somehow somewhere. Nice player on paper, but I don't think he'll play to his next contract.

TurdFerguson 11-04-2012 05:26 PM

Don't want Brouwer back. The main guy i NEVER wanted to lose was Ladd.

Cullksinikers 11-04-2012 07:38 PM

Do you not remember how he went 20+ games without scoring a goal for us until he demanded double what he was worth?

He didn't score a goal in his final 29 games as a Blackhawks

Yeah, I knew it was 20+ games, but I didn't know the exact number.

But I'm sure that part of it was injuring his shoulder against the Canadiens by throwing himself into the boards, right?

Problem with that argument that the Brouwer fanboys use is he was at 22 games without a goal at that point

And for the record

Frolik outperformed Brouwer this recent playoff

Brouwer 14 games with 2 goals + 2 assists -2 with 19 min TOI
Frolik 4 games with 2 goals + 1 assists +1 with a little over 17 min TOI

I know, I know. That's why I put the laughing face. Brouwer was terrible for us the last year he was in Chicago and became greedy and demanding when he frankly didn't deserve it. Stay away.

hockeydoug 11-04-2012 08:38 PM

Brouwer is one of the reasons I think the "hit" category should be lumped into largely useless stats like "+/-".

I always liked him, it was frustrating that he couldn't solidify a role.

I didn't realize that his drought hit 29 games.

Hawkaholic 11-04-2012 08:51 PM

Terrible idea.
Danault could probably come in soon and do what Brouwer did and more.
Brouwer got a hefty raise too, isn't it close to 4mil?

Bring Ladd and Nemo back.

xX Hot Fuss 11-04-2012 11:23 PM

Damn you Bubba...

Bubba88 11-05-2012 12:49 AM

Next would be Versteeg... need him back too.

Sir Psycho T 11-05-2012 01:59 AM

Of all the forwards lost since 2010 Brouwer would be near the bottom of my list.

Ladd
Versteeg
Buff
Madden
Eager
Burish
Kopecky

All would be better served back then Brouwer as they served better in their roles then he did.

Oh_so_saad 11-05-2012 09:55 AM

versteeg and buff was my two i hated to watch go

Yeah right, another perimeter player ..... NOT

who is overpaid as well.

HawksFan74 11-05-2012 06:39 PM

I have a feeling with the new cap next year Hawks won't be bringing in anyone with a decent salary.

Well this team has been stocking the prospect pool for a while

Eventually these picks will be fighting for the roster so going and get big $$$ players doesn't make sense especially given how much $$$ the Hawks have tied up in core already

BobbyJet 11-05-2012 07:29 PM

/\ Agreed.

I thought it would have been wise to keep Brouwer until the young players matured and I think he would have signed for less here but it's too late now. It was a good career move for him to go to Washington.

Agreed. The Hawks don't necessarily have to make big moves right now with the prospects we have. A lot of teams would kill to have our depth in the system
