Team USA just defeated Canada West 6-3 to win the World Junior A Challenge gold. :handclap:

When Canada puts in a full country squad like the US then it might actually mean something.

99% of Team USA came from the USHL.

This event is run by Hockey Canada which allows them to have two teams...I don't think they will change it because this event is more of a showcase event then anything else to give scouts a look at kids they might not be on the radar. Same with the World U-17 Challenge with the 5 regional Canadian teams.

Let me guess, the WJC would be different every year if Canada could have all their players.... Get ready to lose that excuse this year too. It means something, not as much as higher levels, but it is still a good sign if you are a USA hockey fan.

20 players on the team. 1 not in USHL = 95%

Maybe not every year but it sure would help. Regularly having 5 or so guys playing well in the NHL compared to pretty much every other country having one max is a big disadvantage

this will be an interesting post when Canada plays the US. Just wondering, does any country have a talent as good as RNH?

I believe it was said on the broadcast that Canada West has never beaten the US in the final but I could be wrong on that.

I know that they've gone to every final ? They beat Canada east...

JrA is better out west, really weak out east, but in the central... I.E Ontario it's strong...

So a Central JR.A TC would be strong... An actual east TC wouldn't be.

I think this event tends to indicate that the USHL is far stronger than any Canadian Junior A league individually.

Canadian Junior A hockey is extremely watered down. Sure, if they made one team they'd probably be more of a challenge to the US' USHL composed team but it doesn't change the fact that the talent is far more concentrated in the USHL.

Apparently it's a really, really big deal to you.
