Who's Better: P.K. Subban vs Kevin Shattenkirk

This article about Subban made me wonder what's HF point of vue on who's better right now.

I would say Shattenkirk is marginally better now. However, I think "even" is the closest to being correct and I think Subban has a higher upside.

Khris Creider 11-12-2012 02:00 PM

I'd take Subban all day

habs03 11-12-2012 02:07 PM

1: Subban without thinking twice

2: I like Shattenkirk, but he isn't the best d-men drafted in the 1st round in 07 (McDonagh)

The crazy part for me is that there were 5 D-men taken ahead of Subban in the 31-42 slot alone.

NH57 11-12-2012 02:11 PM

I'd take Subban. He is better now, and has higher upside. I'm a big Shattenkirk fan too, but I think Subban is better.

Right now, Subban is really a #2 D-Man with All-Star #1 D-Man upside. Shattenkirk is a #3-4 D-Man with #2 Upside.

Subban

Kane One 11-12-2012 02:16 PM

Definitely Subban on this one.

InjuredChoker 11-12-2012 02:31 PM

Subban, pretty easy.

The Note 11-12-2012 02:49 PM

Subbans better he's got #1 abilities. I don't see shattenkirk ever being a true number one. He's a good 2-3 puck moving d man that isn't a liability in his own end

Dr John Carlson 11-12-2012 02:53 PM

Subban.

Alzner and McDonagh are both better than Shattenkirk.

BoxOfChocolates 11-12-2012 02:56 PM

Avs fan who was a big fan of Shattenkirk, but I'll take Subban everyday.

KawaYui 11-12-2012 02:57 PM

subban ainec

ottawa 11-12-2012 03:00 PM

Subban any night of the week

Izzy 11-12-2012 03:11 PM

Subban in a #1 (maybe #2)
Shattenkirk is a #2 (Playing as a #3 to keep things even)

Wow, Habs fans are starting to be a bit overwhelming with their favorable bias polls... Any tighter comparisons?

read the OP dude. It's based on an article that said that Shatty was the best d-man of that draft so I wanted to get HF's opinion on it. There already was a PK vs McD poll done about a week ago so I made a PK vs Shatty. Since I don't get to watch the Blues as much I wanted to know.

Sorry, wasn't targeting you specifically. But there are 3 Subban polls on the main page right now and 4 more polls with Beaulieu, Pac, Gally and Collberg. Add to that the obvious Phaneuf vs Weber troll thread posted by a Habs fan.

Crabovski* 11-12-2012 05:25 PM

Now Shattenkirk Future Subban, and not by much on either accounts
Next Poll....

eklunds source 11-12-2012 05:28 PM

Subban. He does it all for Montreal and is far and away their best defence man.

Shattenkirk is great and I don't think we've seen anything close to his peak, but he did well in a sheltered role. Subban did great in a #1 role.

No prob. I do see that it can annoy other fans when there's to many content of one team, but 2-3 weeks ago it was all Oilers/Big4 and it will probably change next week

Id say it's pretty even with subban having the better point production potential. As of now though, shattenkirk it's looking more sound defensively than Subban but only time will tell which will develop better in that regard as they eventually reach their primes.

MattyMo35 11-12-2012 05:31 PM

They're pretty close right now, but in the future it is undeniably Subban. I like Shatty, and he's been about as consistent as you can be in your first two season(43 points in each), but his skill set isn't on the level of Subban.

HarrySPlinkett 11-12-2012 05:34 PM

If Shattenkirk's name was Shattenpicard, we wouldn't even be talking about him. :P

And 'Subban FTW'

bluemandan 11-12-2012 06:14 PM

Subban.

Shattenkirk gets sheltered minutes and responsibilities.

Subban is an all-around defenseman, and a good one at that.

Shattenkirk is an offensive-defenseman, and a good one at that.

I'll take the guy who brings more to the table.

And don't forget the obvious Subban vrs Weber troll thread posted by a Leafs fan.
You don't like the polls than stay the hell out of them.
