He screwed himself over here in Ottawa.

Probably the best thing for his long term health.

We like to make jokes about him around here but before injuries derailed his career he was a helluva tender. Amazing potential. Too bad he never got to see that potential amount to much in the NHL.

Rick DiPietro should take a page from LeClaire. Gotta look at the future aswell as just right now.

His first month as a Senator he was actually pretty good.

He was decent in the playoffs too.

Leclaire is giving up $0 by retiring.

DiPietro would be giving up $40 500 000 by retiring.

Yup, that future $40million dollars means he's not retiring anytime soon.

At some point you gotta think about your family and your own well being. I know it's a lot of dough he'd be giving up, but is it worth being crippled at 50?

You do know that he gets paid while he's injured right?

I believe he will get a insurance payment for the next while. If he played again he would lose it.

That was one of the main reasons Dan Blackburn opted to not try a comeback.

He keeps attempting to return, I mean he can't just pretend to be injured all the time.

The only point im trying to make is he's going to be in terrible shape physically in the not too distant future. He should get himself healed and get out of hockey. Being in that much pain when he's older I don't think is worth the constant rehab he goes through.

I commend him for continuously making comebacks, but its risky for his long term health.

It's an exaggeration to say he'll be crippled at 50. Besides, he's got enough dough to get the best medical attention in the world.

I feel bad for him, played great against the Penguins in the playoffs when Elliot faltered. One thing about this organization that I am not that big of a fan of is incorporating former members into the management. The only two in the organization currently I believe are Jason Smith and Luke Richardson. Would love to see Leclaire as a Quebec scout or team representative for team free agency pitches similar to John Madden with the Canadiens as amateur player recruitment representative

Rick DiPietro is playing in Germany right now during the lockout. He's actually playing on the same team as Condra.

Former Senator Rob Murphy is a scout and former Sens draft pick Mikko Ruutu is a Euro scout for the Sens.

Funny thing is that he got injured in Germany and is now out for a while. :laugh:

I feel super bad for him. I really liked Leclaire and truly believe if it wasn't for his injuries, he could be a top-10 goalie in the NHL. I wish him all the best.
