Who would you vote for for the HHoF? You can vote for more than one. Vote everyone you think should get in eventually. Votes are private.

TheDevilMadeMe 11-12-2012 11:37 PM

Do you want us to limit it to four candidates as the real HHOF uses, or vote everyone we think should get in eventually?

Also, can you give a link for where you got the quote?

Vote everyone you think should get in eventually. Adding link now, my friend. Done.

vadim sharifijanov 11-12-2012 11:56 PM

not that i necessarily think he should be a hall of famer, but i feel like claude lemieux belongs on that list if owen nolan is going to be on it.

TheDevilMadeMe 11-12-2012 11:58 PM

I voted for Chelios, Niedermayer, Blake, Kariya, Shanahan, Lindros, Fleury, Barrasso, LeClair, Makarov, and Carbonneau.

Could have gone either way on Carbonneau.

The top-3, Shanny, Lindros and Makarov...thought about a couple of others, such as Fleury...

Agreed. Same with Vanbiesbrouck, Desjardins, Vachon and Zubov.

Won't it be something like Fedorov, Forsberg, Modano and Recchi... with Recchi maybe bumped for a holdover from 2013?

I guess that was kinda misleading. By the "top-3" I meant the first three in the poll  Of course, Chelios, I'd be hanged, drawn and quartered if I didn't include him...

Elever 11-13-2012 12:44 PM

Only 7 people voted for LeClair? Guy was one of the best Americans to play the game, led the league in LW goal scoring between the 95/96 season and 2000 (then got injured). Anyways I would vote for all those guys except Andreychuk, Vernon, Barrasso, maybe Brind'Amour and I don't know Makarov well enough though I dont' have an issue if any of those guys get in. You forgot Alexander Mogilny.

Big Phil 11-13-2012 05:19 PM

I voted for Chelios, Niedermayer, Blake, Makarov, Shanahan, Lindros (overall I think he gets in eventually), Barrasso and Fleury.

Can't see Tkachuk, Andreychuk, Leclair, etc. can get in. Kariya and Vernon have their peak points but a lot of sewage in between.

At least one player I'd put in wasn't on there and that is Vachon. Middleton wasn't on the list either and I go either way with him.

If only they had some sort of US Hockey Hall of Fame to reward great Americans...maybe one day...;)

Mogilny would have gotten if every year he played was a contract year...it's those multi-year deals that really set him back...

Chelios
Niedermayer
Blake
Shanahan
Lindros
Andreychuk
Fleury
Joseph
Barasso
Housley
Carbonneau

I voted for six guys, and they are on top, by far. There is a big gap from Blake (26) to Fleury and Carbs (14).

Easy to tell who those 6 are...IMO Kariya has a pretty strong case. Why not include him?...Not saying he's as easy a choice as the other 6, but IMO he is clear HHOF caliber in the sense that there was a good stretch where he was among the best of the best in the league. Is there a forward like that who's not in the HHOF? Also, throw him some bonus points for his Asian heritage and Lady Byngs.

MadArcand 11-14-2012 04:49 AM

I can see the case for most of them. If I separate them into tiers:

Locks:
Chelios
Niedermayer
Shanahan
Lindros
Fleury
Makarov

Borderline yes:
Blake
Brind'amour
Tkachuk
Kariya
Barrasso
Housley
Leclair

Borderline no:
Roenick
Joseph
Carbonneau

Hell no:
Nolan
Andreychuk
Naslund
Vernon

Hardyvan123 11-14-2012 08:40 AM

I voted for 5 guys that I think are locks, all 5 are top 5 in voting. Other guys that are borderline need more thought and the backlog with 4 per year is going to cause problems in the future IMO.

I Hate Chris Butler 11-14-2012 10:12 AM

Voted for Housley, Chelios, Niedermayer, Makarov, and Lindros.

Kariya would be my next choice. but he's just not quite there.
