2013 projected lines

since it seems like no hockey this year, just curious how you view the roster going forward in 2013. check out www.capgeek.com and take off this years contracts. i think we're going to be very young. grigs n girgs, armia, foligno, ? post your lines :-)

Imlach a cup 11-13-2012 03:33 AM

I think Girgs probably gets another year Roc minimum.

Vanek Hodgson Pominville
Foligno Ennis Stafford
Armia Grigorenko Ott/Tropp
Kaleta Leino/McCormick Tropp/Ott

Leino eventually gets the Brad Boyes treatment, on fight nights you roll big and play Cody on the fourth and Ott on the third to protect the kids.

Blue line
Myers Sekera
Erhroff Edler
McNabb Brennan
Weber

tsujimoto74 11-13-2012 04:14 AM

Vanek Hodgson Ott/Tropp/Leino
Foligno Ennis Stafford
Ott/Tropp/Leino Grigorenko Pominville
Gerbe ? Kaleta

I think Armia starts the year in Rochester adjusting to NA hockey and gets his chances as a call-up.

Sekera Myers
McNabb Ehrhoff
Regehr Pysyk/FA
Weber

I also definitely think there's a chance we push hard for Edler, in which case McNabb probably starts on the bottom pairing + 2nd PP unit and Pysyk definitely starts in the A.

jayintro86 11-13-2012 05:29 AM

Ott Grigorenko Pominville
Vanek Hodgson Leino/Armia
Stafford Ennis Foligno
Scott/Gerbe McCormick Kaleta

McNabb Myers
Ehrhoff Edler
Pysyk Sekera

I think Tropp will start in the AHL cause of his injury

HiddenInLight 11-13-2012 06:38 AM

If we are adding FAs:

Vanek - Zajak - Pomminville
Ennis - Hodgeson - Stafford
Foligno - Grigorenko - Ott
Gerbe - Girgs - Kaleta
Leino
McCormick
Armia
Tropp

Myers - Sekera
Ehrhoff - Sulzer
McNabb - Pysyk
Brennan
Weber

Miller
Enroth

Were gonna need to trade some forwards in my scenerio.....

CraniumCram 11-13-2012 11:28 AM

Vanek Grigorenko Pominville
Ennis Hodgson Stafford
Foligno Ott Armia/Gerbe
Kaleta McCormick/Leino Tropp

Myers Sekera
Erhroff Regehr
McNabb Pysyk/Brennen

I think Grigs is ready to get heavy NHL minutes, he's so mature for his age. I also like the idea of keeping FES together, but I don't think separating them would be as bad as some fans have said. Nabbing Edler in FA would be amazing, yes, but a ton of teams are going to be gunning for him, including Detroit, Philly, etc, any other big name teams in need of defense. The only advantage we have is having Ehrhoff, but I don't think that gets it done.
Prediction: Vanek scores 45+ goals in 13-14, his first full season with Grigs at C.

Ott doesnt play center, he only takes faceoffs then goes to the wing. If you want Ott at center you need a guy like Leino or Pomminville on his wing to share the responsibilities.

hockey18 11-13-2012 02:11 PM

by next year regehr's contract is up and they won't bring him back. Sultzer won't be renewed and brennan/mcnabb will be up and if they get rid of weber, then pysyk will be up. HE is a good player but definately isn't ready for the NHL. NOt sure if it will take one or two years.

Duddy 11-13-2012 02:18 PM

Vanek - Hodgson - Tropp
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Ott/Leino - Grigorenko - Pominville
Gerbe - Girgensons - Kaleta

Myers - Sekera
Ehrhoff - McNabb
Regehr - Leo

Miller

Ralonzo 11-13-2012 02:27 PM

I'd re-sign John Scott since his presence has kept the opposition honest this year...

DJN21 11-13-2012 03:17 PM

tough to say...you know someone will be signed/traded,released etc. My ideal scenario is:

Vanek-Getzlaf/Zajac-Poms
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Leino-Grigorenko-Ott(really think Ott would help grigs adjust defensively and maybe grigs could help leino rebound offensively?)
Kaleta-McCormick-Gerbe
x-Scott

Myers-Sekera
Ehrhoff-FA be it Robyn back, edler etc
McNabb/Weber/Sulzer/Pysyk

-Tropp setback due to injury puts him in the ahl
-Girgs gets a year to actually play center in the ahl
-Armia gets a year on Girg's wing to get used to NA

Based purely off of the roster and no FA adds:

Ott/Leino-Grigorenko-Pominville
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Vanek-Hodgson-Leino/Ott
Gerbe-Girgensons-Kaleta
X: McCormick

Myers-Sekera
Ehrhoff-Pysyk
McNabb-Regehr/Leopold
X: Brennan

Basically, roll 3 lines that are more or less balanced and then one crap-stirring, defense-first line.

It pained me initially not to go with Vanek-Grigs-Poms, but then you leave Hodgson with offensively-questionable guys like Leino and Ott, who are essentially 3rd liners.

Highly doubt that Girgensons is ready for the NHL yet, and we definitely won't be playing FES on the top line, they were so effective because they were put against 3rd line competition. Can't really see Foligno on the fourth line either, Lindy likes that kid and what he brings, he'll be supporting the top 6 I believe. Other than that....

Armia should be in every line up, his contract is up and he will be in the NHL next year.

I'm not convinced that he'll be NHL-ready at the start of the year. Me may need one half-to-one whole season of AHL play just to adapt him to things over here.

Hey, if he's ready, he's ready, but I think he'll need a little seasoning first.

ZZamboni 11-14-2012 09:38 PM

I just find it odd. That some of these projected forward lines have any rookie on the top 2 lines. I find it hard to believe that any rookie will outplay an offensive veteran enough to bump them off the top 2 lines. But I guess it's not impossible.

Having Vanek, Poms, or Ennis on the third line and a rookie in their place on the top 2 lines is highly highly unlikely IMO.

Talk about great expectations ... Yikes :amazed:

It will only breed great disappointment.

You think Grigorenko doesn't make the team?

Besides, Lindy likes to roll 3 lines with scoring punch (as is shown in my projected set). If Grigs makes the team (which I think he will in 2013/14), I think Lindy won't be dumb enough to not give him a solid NHL scoring option.

And you're also assuming what everyone expects. I think Grigorenko makes the team, is given a winger that can score and he WILL struggle at points. I'm not expecting 100 point season out of him. I'd be perfectly happy with 40-50 and showing glimpses.

I think he has a pretty good chance, absolutely not a lock. Everything else I said is pretty clear. Try not reading into what's not written :)

As far as benchmarks (points). Yea, if he makes it, 40-50 points would be a fair and not overwhelming goal. For me, if he makes the team, as long as you can see him develop (in a good way) over the course of an entire season it would be good. But there are some who love to look at players on a game by game basis and say he overall rules or overall sucks as a player.

If there is no hockey we got Ott for free!

To be fair, knowing Lindy our third line will get within two minutes of ice time of our first and second line, leaving our 4th line, and some of our better defensive forewards with something like 6 minutes per game. =/

But I see armia at least starting the year in the AHL, but being one of our top 3 callups (Tropp Girgensons and Armia)

Personally I think the best thing that could happen for this roster is for them to somehow get rid of leino to make room for younger better players. I am hoping for an amnesty buyout TBH. Its not that I don't think he can recover from last year, its just that this lineup is starting to get a bit logjammed as our two youngest wingers (Armia and Tropp) get closer to being NHL ready.

Should we resign Roy as a FA? :sarcasm:
