Prime Ovechkin vs Prime Crosby vs Prime Malkin

As far as we seen, would you take a healthy prime Ovie, healthy prime Geno or healthy prime Sid?

forgot to add geno in poll title.

The Nose 11-14-2012 07:21 AM

Crosby.

HavlatMach9 11-14-2012 07:23 AM

Down to Malkin/Crosby, Crosby is what I prefer.
You may as well ask center vs winger.

Izzy 11-14-2012 07:25 AM

Crosby
Ovechkin
Malkin

King Forsberg 11-14-2012 07:31 AM

Ovechkin
Crosby
Malkin.

Hard to argue against Ovechkins 2007-08 to 2009-10. Three Pearsons, Art Ross a Richard, 2 Hart trophies.

TAnnala 11-14-2012 07:53 AM

Considering that healthy means Crosby would have no concussion issues the it would be him. If talking about who has had the best 3-5 years prime this far then it is Ovechkin.

Basically this:

Potential/without injuries:

1. Crosby
2. Ovechkin/Malkin

What really happened:

1. Ovechkin
2. Malkin
3. Crosby

Give me the guy who was tearing the league apart in 2010. After that I'd say it's a toss up between Geno's 07-08 and 11-12 seasons and Ovy's stretch between 07-09.

Is that Corsby's peak or prime? We will probably never know. For me the sample size is a bit too short to call it a prime. I'd definitely say that Crosby has the best potential but he has troubles of staying healthy.

If he will stay healthy he MIGHT do better than Malkin and Ovechkin. So far he is a step behind.

Razor29 11-14-2012 09:04 AM

Ovechkin had better seasons than either Crosby or Malkin.

Can't go wrong with any, but I'd take Ovi.

laundryman 11-14-2012 09:09 AM

Crosby
Ovechkin
Malkin

Crosby/Ovechkin is basically 1a/1b to me

gretskidoo 11-14-2012 09:24 AM

Ovechkin's had the best season out of the 3, so I'll go with him.

Half a season isn't really considered the prime of a players career.

I think we need more of a description here for the poll before people vote.

Does prime count as a whole season or a 30-40gm stretch? That makes a huge difference.
Does prime count towards future or what they've already done?

I was thinking something similar. I mean obviously none of them are as good as a prime Gagner, only problem his prime lasted only one game. :sarcasm:

LOL. But yeah seriously, we need more of a description.

Best season=Ovechkin
Best 40gm stretc= Close Crosby vs Ovechkin
Future possible prime?= Really interesting. Maybe crosby? Maybe a focused Geno is capable of 60goals/130pts? Maybe ovechkin with a 100% backstrom, healthy mike green (if it's possible), and a better offensive system (Hunter's gone) could sniff 60goals again.

gifted88 11-14-2012 10:28 AM

I'd pick Crosby. Really close between him and Malkin for me, I think both could still hit some big numbers.

65 goal season, which hadn't been done in some time.

Prime Ovy was insane. it's a bit of skewed perspective with Ovy falling off of his prime and Crosby hurt, so we tend to forget.

I'm referring to the 2010 calendar year. That was the best I've seen him play. That's what his prime will look like. With a full offseason, he'll be back flying.

Yashintangibles 11-14-2012 10:41 AM

It seems like Malkin's still in his prime. I'll go with him and his achievements.

um 11-14-2012 11:14 AM

ovechkin
crosby

malkin

all of them can score 50+ goals and 110+ points in there peaks (its to early to decide prime, still a few years left) but ovechkin gets the nod since he scored 65

Komarov77 11-14-2012 11:36 AM

Ovechkin

tony d 11-14-2012 11:42 AM

Prime Ovechkin
Prime Crosby
Prime Malkin

nowhereman 11-14-2012 11:55 AM

Prime Crosby (even though he's just entering his prime and we're not sure what he's really capable of), every day of the week.

I'm not sure that one season represents a player's prime, as much as it represents his peak. I think Ovechkin's 65 goal campaign is no more a true representation of his play than Crosby's 140 points over the last 82 games.

But Crosby has always been a better all-around player; a born-winner who makes everyone around him better and can play the game any way you want (scorer, playmaker, grinder, etc.).

Ferros 11-14-2012 12:45 PM

For me it is Ovechkin, then Crosby just behind and then Malkin as third.

MonsterSurge 11-14-2012 12:54 PM

Ovechkin doesn't do much besides score goals. Malkin is insane when he's on his game. Crosby has played with lesser players his entire career and has a better overall game than both of them.

Homer call:
Crosby
Malkin
Ovechkin
