Has D.Sedin surpassed Naslund as the better canuck in their prime?

if not i think hes matched him

Henrik To Daniel 11-14-2012 08:37 PM

I'm a huge Naslund fan and even I say yes.

Naslund was the best player in his position for 3 years straight and a top 3 player in the league too, but Sedin was THE best in 2011 and has the hardware to prove it.

He also has lead the team to heights that Naslund never did (SCF, back to back Presidents' trophies)

Corey Perry and his hart trophy might have something to say about that.

~30 games of dominant play is NOT better than 82 games of consistent, elite play

PoolChamp 11-14-2012 09:28 PM

Naslund had a few great years then fell off a cliff. It was amazing how fast he declined. Absolute joke that his Jersey got retired...

Perry was very consistent and dominant up until March (he was never below a PPG all season), he just upped his game to a whole new level down the stretch to get the Ducks into the playoffs. If Pearson ballots weren't sent out well before the playoffs I wonder how it would have affected the players voting, knowing how good he was in the final couple of weeks where he surpassed everybody in the goal scoring race.

PoolChamp 11-14-2012 09:33 PM

who gives a **** about Perry, this poll is not about him

He declined once Big Bert hit Moore and then got traded.

Not really. It may be amazing that is took him as long as he did to become a star, but he had 80 points as a 33 year old, and then 60 in 2006-2007.

his play declined before bertuzzi was traded. He played soft and uninspired after the lockout, like he didnt care anymore and wanted to go back to Sweden. not the type of player that should be getting their jersey retired.

I was just responding to the statement that Sedin was the best in 2011 and has the hardware to prove it.

On topic, I think Sedin has surpassed Naslund as having a better prime. It's close though.

He did win the Ted Lindsay(most outstanding player as opposed to hart's "most valuable to his team") and Art Ross, so you kinda could say that he does have the hardware to prove it..

Henrik Sedin has a Hart trophy as well.

Henrik was the best* in 2009-2010, not 2010-2011.

* best according to the system. Maybe not the best, but he did win the Hart and Art Ross that year.

How long before playoffs are the ballots filled out? I was under the impression the voting for Lindsay and Hart take place at the same time.

how many games does an average stanley cup winning team play?? :sarcasm:

AJMHABS 11-14-2012 11:34 PM

Yes, I believe D. Sedin has done enough to surpass Naslund.

Also winning an Art Ross And a Ted Lindsay in the same year does help plead his case.

I'm pretty sure the players vote throughout the last month of the season, which is why whenever there's a split between the Hart and the Lindsay, it's frequently in years where the Hart winner had a really good last stretch of the season. Same thing with Thornton passing Jagr for the Art Ross at the end of 05-06

As for the question, I think there's a lot of short memories who only think of Naslund's last couple years. I don't think Daniel has passed him yet. If he stayed healthy in '10 and last year, then maybe

Dude you are a bit off track here..

I think D. Sedin has bested Naslund. Not by much but he has.

PG Canuck 11-15-2012 02:11 AM

I think Danny has, and I'm a big Naslund fan. A Stanley Cup before Sedin retires would really push him past Naslund, for me personally. Although, I can see the argument that would bring such as the team Naslund was on may not have been as good as the team we currently ice now.

Morlesio14* 11-15-2012 06:57 AM

No, but mabye for henrik sedin

tony d 11-15-2012 08:05 AM

Option 2. Not yet but very soon. If Sedin has a 80 point season in the next full season then yes we can say he has passed Naslund.

He did say position. Hence, left wing. Perry is a right wing.

In either case, I still think Daniel Sedin outplayed Perry over an 82 game season that year. It is certainly up for debate I guess though.

I'd say either Sedin over Naslund at this point. A Sedin vs. Bure poll may spark my interest a bit more.

ThatGuy22 11-15-2012 11:06 AM

Judging by the poll, is it a fair assumption that most people think Daniel is the better Sedin? I've always thought Henrik was the more important Sedin and better(although thats a relative term because they are very close) twin.

No he did not. The post was pretty clearly meant in a way that suggested D. Sedin of being the best player that year. Not best in his position.
