Reunite Plekanec and Jagr

Plekanec, Kaberle/Diaz/Webber and one the Habs later 2nds
for
Benn and Robidas (we can drop Robidas is need be)

Your thoughts

Vankiller Whale 11-14-2012 10:45 PM

Dallas says no really quickly.

Kaberle = Robidas
Benn>>Plekanec in terms of value. A lot more than a 2nd.

SLAPSHOT723 11-14-2012 10:51 PM

Benn literally just said he doesn't want to play in Canada.

I never heard that, isn't he born in Western Canada

It's more a shyness thing than a dislike of his home country

DuckEatinShark 11-14-2012 11:08 PM

Isn't Jaime Benn RFA? If so, I think Dallas will match any offer made to him if it is less than the $6.7 million compensation (2 1sts, 2nd and 3rd) since they a lot of cap space left.

Unless you're offering all that for Jordie Benn:sarcasm:

Paul4587 11-14-2012 11:18 PM

Not a chance Dallas does that.

AJMHABS 11-14-2012 11:58 PM

Bad deal for Dallas, Habs take that and run.

CoachBadkitten 11-15-2012 12:01 AM

No chance MTL does this. They can get much better value for Plekanec than Jordie Benn.

Benny FTW 11-15-2012 12:03 AM

Woooosh beyond horrible for Dallas.

LyricalLyricist 11-15-2012 12:03 AM

It doesn't work that way. Unless this is Jamie's brother, Dallas laughs in your face.

Plekanec has good value, but not Benn value. Throwing in kaberle or a marginal D or prospect won't get the job done.

Frozen Failure 11-15-2012 12:07 AM

Plekanec might be nice to have, but Benn means you have to give up Patches and no one in Montreal wants to do that, ever.

If you want Jagr as a rental, a pick would probably suffice at the deadline.

Avs44 11-15-2012 12:11 AM

 that's not even close. That would be a huge no from Dallas.

ZARTONK 11-15-2012 12:22 AM

Montreal says no because we dont want to screw other teams that bad :P

Agreed, we need to revenge-fleece the Rangers, not the Stars.

Generic User 11-15-2012 12:49 AM

If Benn goes to Montreal, Plekanec would not be the centerpiece going back. The "later" 2nd would be more like ≥ 1 first round pick along with two prospects of Dallas' choosing.. Which Galchenyuk would no doubt be one of them. Suffice it to say, Montreal fans wouldn't be too keen on a deal that would get Dallas to send Benn packing.

mytor4* 11-15-2012 04:49 AM

I like this as a Habs fan.:sarcasm:

MasterDecoy 11-15-2012 06:24 AM

just make sure you make this trade through gainey, not joe ;)

roboninja 11-15-2012 08:52 AM

My thoughts are this is a horrible, horrible trade proposal from the Stars POV. Not even close in value.

1972 11-15-2012 09:14 AM

When is the last time a player like Benn got traded?

It just doesnt happen

Oates2Neely 11-15-2012 09:19 AM

If that's the going rate for Benn, Boston offers Krejci, Caron + 1st

untouchable21 11-15-2012 09:23 AM

Why would the Stars give up the long term future with Benn to re-unite Plekanec and Jagr for a few seasons at the most. Jagr is only signed for this season and even if he re-signed with Dallas, at some point in the near future, he will retire.

because more people would read it if it was titled as such rather then "Montreal bends dallas over and ***** em all night, leaves in the morning and never calls them again"

Oleg Petrov 11-15-2012 10:58 AM

Let's be realistic.

Plekanec & Kaberle for 9.5 Million to Dallas.

Kaberle has 2 years left on his deal, so Montreal is going to have to take back similar salary.

How does
Morrow & Fistric ($5.575) both UFA at year's end and one of Oleksiak, Faksa or Ritchie.

Maxpac 11-15-2012 11:12 AM

A package centering Plekanec for Faksa and Morrow would be a pretty awesome deal for this Habs fan.
