Hypothetically, what would happen to the draft if two seasons were lost?

Let's say they come to an agreement after losing this season and next season. Would there be two drafts, one right after the other or would they combine all of the players and picks from both drafts into one?

Well they can't do that. I'm sure they wouldn't know if two seasons were cancelled at the draft before the second season. Chances are they would do the lottery ball system again.

I'd be worried about the survival of the league let alone the draft.

There wouldn't be a draft without a CBA agreement though.

the second draft would be random I think. Probably snaked too.

Razor29 11-15-2012 09:59 AM

There would be no league.

This, kiss it all goodbye if two seasons are lost.

Pitt gets Mackinnon and Ekblad?

Vikke 11-15-2012 11:03 AM

They'd have two separate lotteries and drafts most likely. First the 2013 draft class, then the 2014 a day or two after. I'd guess.

Agreed. 2 year lockout=NHL potentially gone forever. :(

HAHAHA

Well, they do need a saviour to get them to the Cup... oh wait :sarcasm:

Didn't the NFL have a draft that was technically during their lockout, too? Would it really be any different for the NHL? Prospects aren't locked out yet, after all, or does the fact that most hockey prospects aren't technically amateurs as they're from the CHL and football draft picks are as they're coming from the NCAA play a role?

The NHL would have folded and there'd be a different league by this point.

It would be really interesting Draft, that's for sure. Double the amount of talent normally available. That was the first thought that came to mind when I saw the title of the thread.
