Eric Comrie

Greetings WHL fans!

I've been reading some very good things on Eric Comrie for quite awhile and was wondering is he really as good as advertised? I actually saw Comrie play here in California a few years while he was with the then-LA Selects and he looked very good, but he was also rather raw too.

Can anyone comment on some of his current strengths & weaknesses and how does he stack up against some of the other top goalies (drafted or otherwise) around?

I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance. :)

#1 Eric Comrie – Goalie [2013]
Pros: Reads the play very well. Good positioning. Good butterfly.
Cons: Needs to play bigger. Needs to get faster lateral. High glove needs improvement.
Potential: NHL goalie

How many times have you seen him play?

How is his tracking and ability to make 2nd saves? These two traits I believe are the most important for a young, developing goalie.

I would consider Comrie to be well above average with both of those traits.

Agreed, above average in both categories (can improve, won't blow you away, but has decent rebound control). Has the ability to make the big saves, but prone to letting in weak goals, picture Tomas Vokoun potential, but he plays a spider style like Varlamov.

Thanks for all the input! It's very helpful and gives me a pretty good picture of where he's at in his development. Comrie sounds like he could develop into an NHL-level goalie one day.

Thought I'd bump this.

Unfortunately, he'll miss the remainder of the season with a hip injury.
Big loss for the Ams.
