Roster

Who to watch?BARONS TO WATCH: Toni Rajala will make his AHL debut tonight due to his stellar play in the ECHL as well as injuries to Tyler Pitlick, Tanner House, and Anti Tyrvainen paving the way. The leading scorer for the Barons farm team the Stockton Thunder looks to add some secondary scoring to the big club and he will undoubtedly try to earn a spot on the big club for the rest of the season.

STARS TO WATCH: Cody Eakin and Tomas Vincour lead the Stars attack with 10 and 9 points respectively on the only AHL team not to break the 30 goals for barrier yet (albeit in only 13 games).

Barons Number of the DayThe number of the day is 0 as in the amount of points that Anton Lander has in 11 games in this '12-13 season. In 25 career AHL regular season games Lander has a stat line of 1-4-5 or a 0.20 points/game average. Currently playing on the Barons 2nd line with Magnus Paajarvi and Teemu Hartikainen, Lander will not have a better opportunity to produce points, hopefully he will get on the board against the Stars and the Barons 2nd line can go on a roll of their own.

Quotable"Even if we’re getting hacked and whacked, that’s part of the game. I haven’t been on a team in the last four years where we’ve won anything. I feel this is the shot for me to do that. Getting beat 4-0 was almost a blessing in disguise and a wake-up call for us. It’s time to turn things around. I’m sick of losing.”-Jordan Eberle after the Barons lost the the Heat 4-0

IMO this is a team that not only should we beat, but we should put a hurting on them on the scoreboard. They are giving up nearly 3 goals a game and have a horrible PK like the Barons and a poor PP unlike the Barons. This should be a statement game for the Barons and a great chance for some of our secondary scorers to get on the board. The Stars have a huge defense and that will make it hard on guys like Harski and Paajarvi down low, but our speed should make up for that.

Hard to believe that Rajala is still kickin around. Seemed like such a long time ago that I was pretty excited about the Oilers drafting him.

He might have bought himself some time by going back to Finland to do his (mandatory) military time.

Usually its a good thing for a prospect to get called up...but...not so much when your coming from the ECHL 'up' to the AHL.

Unless he has an explosive stint in OKC...this will be his swan song I would think.

I think I have to wake up to watch this game. Rajala's last ride to sunset. He was bit of a child star back when he was 16-18, and then he just stopped developing. I think a small perimeter player afraid of contact won't handle the physical game of AHL. Kind of a sad way to end a hockey career playing in the ECHL and just fade away. I felt bad reading his thread on the prospect forum from start to finish.

So much Hype from Finnish posters "The next Koivu!" "The Sidney Crosby of Finland!" "100 point seasons not out of the question!".

Little did they know he would only put on about 15 pounds from the age of 14-21

Heres one posters draft rankings :

I expect a big night tonight. I think this team is just turning it on.

Replacement 11-21-2012 05:17 PM

Very interested in where the club goes from here.

This is the start of a 7game 3 week roadtrip and could be the defining moment for the club and how or if they bond. I agree with BBO that this match is one of those where we should win handily. There are more serious challenges coming in the road ahead. That said I wouldn't overlook any of these games.

I don't have a firm handle on what the Barons look like on the road either other than in Abbotsford. I do think this team hasn't been on the road enough, or long enough to this point to push the concept of team.

Yep, it works most of the time.

Getting off to a quick start isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Remember last year? I am confident that they will be just fine.
