Josh Harding Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
|
:O
whoa |
Wow, I'd have never expected that.
I wish him all the best. |
Terrible, glad he's recovering, wish him the best.
|
Harding can't seem to buy much luck. Awful news for him. Hoping for the best for him.
|
Wow....that dude is a true warrior. Wish Josh all the best as he fights this thing.
Had a grade school classmate afflicted by MS.....somedays she could walk, others she couldn't. |
|
Poor guy. Wrecked by injuries and now this?
I wish him all the best. He's a trooper. |
Wow. Thats when hockey doesn't matter. Wish him luck and health. Thats a blow.
|
New avatar.
Don't even care about the lockout anymore. |
Really surprised he is going to try and keep playing. Thats a warrior.
|
Wow, just terrible news. Gotta feel for the guy.

Great quote. Actually, there's a lot of great quotes in both articles. |
That's rough. First kid in the oven too. Totally feel for the guy.
I did some looking around for world-class athletes continuing to compete successfully with MS. Mostly what I found was endurance types of sports. . .runners and triathletes. Goaltending is a fine motor skill kind of deal. I did run across the story of Jordan Sigalet, a goaltender. He diagnosed earlier than Josh did, in college in fact. So we'll never know for sure what he could have been without that. Plus every case is different anyway. It sounds like when Sigalet first presented, it was significantly more severe right from the get go. Sigalet shows one game with the Bruins, but no win or loss. Dunno what that was about. A "Rudy" tribute? Shows as one minute, so I suspect so. Basically topped out as an AHL goalie. But we'll never know what he might have been without it, and every case is different, so certainly shouldn't over-read the comparison. But still a guy that Josh might want to talk to at least about his experience. |
I like his attitude.
I really do. |
It's impossible not to like Harding. Nice guy that has a great attitude.
|
Does anyone remember Jordan Sigalet?
|
|
Harding has and always will be one of my favorite Wild players.
First his sister, then his friends...now him. God, that sucks. |
I think that he (Jordan Sigalet) has already contacted Harding. If not, he'll do it soon.
Either way, he showed that it IS possible to play with MS. While goaltending requires fine motor skills, excellent reflexes and vision, I feel that Harding just might pull off a career. He's already had a good one, but he deserves to really show what he's got, after all of his terrible luck. I really, really hope he gets his chance. Wild fans love him, he's been here for 10 years. He's a team-first kind of guy as stated in the article and a real warrior. |
Wow. That certainly puts things back into perspective after all this silliness between the league and players. Harding has a great attitude about this, which shouldn't be a surprise since we've seen him battle through so many obstacles in the past.
I truly hope that he can continue playing for a good while in the league, but priorities have now shifted. He needs to do what's best for him health-wise, and he'll have a family of his own to consider as well. I have a friend who has MS, and she still works like a crazy person. But when things get stressful, it does physically take its toll on her. And she's had to start cutting back because of it. As a hockey fan, I hope he still gets to achieve his career goals. But more importantly, I wish him the best off the ice. Take it one day at a time, listen to your body if it starts telling you to take a break, and do what's right for you and your growing family. Wild fans got your back, bro! :yo: |

What a blow. Never like to hear news like that about anyone. Wishing him all the best. Hockey takes a back seat in times like these.
