Barney's Rehab

Anyone have any word how Barney's injury progression is coming. I remember reading on here a while ago, that Barney had hoped to be back after the All Star Game in February.

So i was curious if anyone had an update on his situation...

Not so much as a up-date as just a get well soon wish for some one who was very happy that we drafted him and waited all these years for him to get every thing together and make it happen. With the season dead now I hope he takes his time and gets it all back on track, and I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be. Hes a great player and from what iv been told a even better person.

He just had hip surgery and is now out 16 more weeks or something like that.

I believe the All-Star game timeline was prior to his hip surgery...

01-08 Barney, Scott 44 Hip Surgery out 16 weeks

It was reported that it was arthroscopic surgery to repair the labrum. Typical recovery is anywhere from 8-12 weeks....

Ouch, so from the groin to the hip now.

Poor Scott just can't buy a break.

Yup, we don't use the word "break" around Scott so much these days....

Washie, Barney is a great guy to talk with and a really nice guy....

Last I heard, Allison and Deadmarsh were trying to swear him in to their "Injured 4 Life" club.

But Martin Straka and Ziggy Palffy grabbed him by the arm and pulled him away (dislocating his shoulder) and swore him into the "It's a Hard Knock Life Club" instead.

He'll receive his commemorative hat (shaped like a football helmet for protection) by the end of the week.

Damn luck. I was wondering if Scotty would still be eligible for the Calder if he played in the NHL next year? Didn't he have like 11 points in 19 games last year or something like that.

Boudreau was just on the Charlie Sherman show (local radio show he calls into every Thursday morning).

He indicated that Barney is still on crutches and he'd be surprised if he was skating a month from today...

HHmmmm...I'd surprised to see him playing this season.

That's pretty much the "tone" I got from Boudreau this morning. He didn't come right out and say the season is a wash for Barney but his tone seemed to...
