Who do the Leaf protect in an expansion draft?

Here is Yahoo Sports guess at who the leafs protect.
Personally I'd protect Kulemin and leave Mac or Bozak.
So Leaf fans, who do you protect?

So no need to protect prospects? Makes the choice pretty easy :laugh: Pretty much protect the only players I want to keep then, probably would have extra spaces to protect players that would go unused haha.

Kessel, Lupul (his rights), JVR, Grabo, Bozak (rights), Frattin, Kadri, Kulemin and ?????
Phaneuf, Gunnarsson, Gardiner, Holzer, and I guess Liles for future trade value.
Reimer due to lack of a better choice.

Forwards: Phil Kessel, Joffrey Lupul, Nikolai Kulemin, Matt Frattin, Mikhail Grabovski, Tyler Bozak, James Van Reimsdyk, Nazem Kadri

Defenseman: Dion Phaneuf, Jake Gardiner, Carl Gunnarsson, John-Michael Liles, Cody Franson

Goalie: James Reimer

Gardiner, Frattin and Kadri don't need to clear waivers. We get them for free according to the rules.

Well being that the article has the likes of Gardiner, Kadri, Frattin, Landeskog, RNH etc all being protected, lets say you've had to of played 40 games in the past two seasons to be eligible.

Pretty sure there would be more 2012 draftees protected. Belanger over Yakupov? Liles over Rielly. No Reinhart. Not bloody likely

A contraction draft is more likely.

I think there's a better chance that the league loses some teams after this lockout than it gaining some.

So if they stick with the same expansion rules as they did 12ish years ago, I guess that means Gardiner, and Frattin are exempt, and Kadri is eligible.
This thread was merely just a hypothetical thread, this Lockout is freaking boring and their is barely anything to discuss. Although I really don't know squat about the business side of hockey, I really doubt the League will fold teams. I remember hearing that the League wanted to expand to 2 more teams for realignment then run with four divisions in each conference. Heres another article speculating on expansion after a CBA is settled

Would it not be a slap in the face to some of those good players on horrid contracts to be put in the draft? Say Lou, Vinny, actually now that I think about it Quebec would prob get the expansion and two french players like Lou and Vinny might look pretty damn good.
