How come there are two (or you could say 3) teams from Asia?

Come on Monterrey!! My 2nd favorite team after Real Madrid.

Vamos Rayados!

IHaveNoCreativity 12-06-2012 08:51 PM

Chelsea for the win.

That's the spirit!

Corinthians will probably win Match 5, although Al-Alhy could be dangerous. Don't know much about Monterray or Ulsan though. I just hope Chelsea don't **** it up on an international stage like this.

ProPAIN 12-12-2012 10:27 AM

Corinthians advance to the finals after defeating Al-Ahly 1-0.

Chelsea play Monterrey tomorrow to determine the other finalist. There is always a danger of taking the opposition too lightly when you haven't played them before, but Chelsea do have the quality to go all the way and I think they are expected to do so.

Pat Nevin on BBC Sport:

Quote:

"Looking at Corinthians and Al Ahly, Chelsea are a long way ahead of these sides. They will tear these sides to shreds if they play with the right attitude."
With the right attitude they would've won their CL group, so I'll believe it when it happens -_-

Panteras 12-12-2012 11:22 AM

Corinthians will win

Finnish your Czech 12-12-2012 10:13 PM

How good of a squad do you guys think Chelsea will put in?

Vamos Rafa 12-12-2012 11:43 PM

Horrible kickoff time for me. 2:45am my time. I'm gonna pass on this match.

I'm thinking the usual squad. Benitez said he'll play a strong team.

Pff, how do you think us Euros watch West coast road trips or games away in Western Canada? Commitment!

I'll try to catch the game during my lunch break.

ProPAIN 12-13-2012 04:26 AM

What I have been asking for quite some time...David Luiz starts in a DM position.

Monterrey are unchanged from their quarter-final win.

Chelsea are expected to line up in the following 4-2-3-1 formation:

1 Petr Cech (c)
28 Cesar Azpilicueta
2 Branislav Ivanovic
24 Gary Cahill
3 Ashley Cole
4 David Luiz
12 John Mikel Obi
10 Juan Mata
11 Oscar
17 Eden Hazard
9 Fernando Torres

Substitutes: 22 Ross Turnbull, 40 Hilario, 19 Paulo Ferreira, 34 Ryan Bertrand, 56 George Saville, 7 Ramires, 8 Frank Lampard, 21 Marko Marin, 35 Lucas Piazon, 13 Victor Moses.

Monterrey are expected to line up in the following 4-3-3 formation:

Orozco; Perez, Mier, Basanta (c), Chavez; Ayovi, Meza, Cardozo; Corona, De Nigris, Delgado.

Substitutes: Dautt, Ibarra, Garcia, Osorio, Lopez, Moreno, Morales, Madrigal, Carreno, Solis.
If only Romeu didn't go and injure himself for 6 months, he'd take over Mikel's position and it would be the best lineup possible. Imagine...two DM's who can head the ball, defend and actually make a decent pass :scared:

Savi 12-13-2012 08:35 AM

Well that was an easy Chelsea win. Too bad Hazard didn't score, he had a good game.

Vamos Rafa 12-13-2012 09:44 AM

What else is new? Unable to keep the clean sheet again. Of course, Chelsea concede a stoppage time goal.

That's two strikes, one more and you're out ;)

They wouldn't have scored if Chelsea were a goal up. It was the 91st and the team couldn't give two ****s about tracking back to stop De Negris.

Luiz was all over the place and that is a good thing. He had the freedom to push up and make plays, but still tracked back to cover defensively. A completely new player.

Azpilicueta had a brutal game, but had to cover Jesus C. so that's understandable ;)

Mikel looks lost when he has the ball. Galloping along and then turns back to pass it back to Ivanovic or Cahill. "What do I do with this round thing at my feet???" Useless player.

Shrimper 12-13-2012 10:46 AM

Corinthians will give Chelsea a really good game.

Jesús Corona was amazing again for Monterrey though.

I'm so excited about this kid. He's only 19 and to be the best player on the pitch for Monterrey against a great side like Chelsea is pretty incredible.

Would they still have postponed Chelsea's match against Southampton this weekend had Chelsea lost to Monterrey?

Chelsea would've played Al-Ahly for third place.
