How would Canada U20 do against a bottom NHL team?

I think Team Canada would beat the last place and bottom NHL teams and a lot don,t agree with me I would like to get some views on this?

No chance, the top line may do OK against weak 3rd lines but the rest of the team would get smashed. See what Brassard, Johansen, Savard, ect did against JR competition 2 or 3 years ago, most regulars in the NHL are like that.

There is just such a strength disparity between a fully developed adult and a teenager that there is pretty much no way the U20 team could compete against NHLers. You could probably field a team of fourth line talent in the NHL that would walk over the U20 guys. It's the same reason that phenoms like Crosby don't tear apart the U20 when they play at age 16, even though they are clearly more talented.

these are the best juniors in canada thou and why is it some juniors walk into a NHL line up and don,t look out of place????????

A handful (at most) do every year, and you don't have an entire team of them.

bottomofthefoodchain 12-06-2012 08:06 AM

No chance in hell. Not even if you make some sort of "world junior team" they would stand a chance.

darmitage 12-06-2012 08:13 AM

this might be the same thing but what about best junior team in Canada(Memorial Cup Team) against last place NHL team?

No. Most players from that team will never reach the NHL nevermind be regulars.

some junior teams look so dominate when they play for example London Knights vs Barrie Colts but when I watch a last place NHL team they look like CRAP! weird the way it looks!

Yeah but still they are some of the best players in the world, even though it might be easy to forget that.

2010 Spitfires could possibly beat Columbus.

Fowler, Ellis, Hall, Henrique, etc.

would last place American Hockey league team beat team Canada or last place NHL team?

PS-in soccer I know Toronto FC would get killed in the English Premier league in England thats shows big time!

um 12-06-2012 08:42 AM

most of these guys can even make the nhl, and if they did they would struggle

Even against QPR? :(

The Swedish WJC-team from last year would be beaten BADLY by any SEL team but that team beat Canada right before the WJC. The same Swedish WJC-team could not beat a Swedish 3rd tier-league team in regulation before the WJC.

fedfed 12-06-2012 09:14 AM

Canadian WJC team would even have a hard time beating worst KHL teams because Russian junior players motly aren't regulars in the KHL.

PRNuck 12-06-2012 09:21 AM

Depends which of the two gets dibs on RNH.

SeriousHabs 12-06-2012 09:52 AM

I'd expect a score of 21-1 for the NHL and at lesat 9 broken bones on the junior side.

wings5 12-06-2012 10:00 AM

Simply no, and they would get killed by DEL team, Allsvenskan team, AHL team, and would most certainly be beaten by an ECHL team. Have ppl forgotten these WJC teams frequently get beaten by CIS teams?!

Whoever they had in net would get lit up.

I see what you did there.

But can anyone honestly think this is possible? Last year bottom feeding teams had players such as Nash, Hall and Price.

DEL - Deutsche Eishockey Liga - German League
CIS - Canadian Interuniversity Sports

startainfection* 12-06-2012 11:31 AM

make an allstar team of all players in the world junior championship and they hold their own but still lose

What like maybe 3 of them? And that's a year after anyways.

They'd get smoked. The NHL teams would have the puck the entire time and just simply overpower the kids. Those 19 year old goalies at the WJC are always such crap too. Considering Canada is going to let in a few softies to the likes of future SEL players on Team Sweden I'm sure the NHL snipers trained in picking corners would have no problem.
