Chris Pronger moves back to STL, career probably over

I didn't see this posted here though it's a few days old. Maybe it can be moved to the trades forum since it's speculation but the fact that him and his family have moved back to STL is not speculation.

So the official retirement has not been announced, he might not announce it till his contract runs out in 2017 or maybe is bought out.

Such a great player...Hate to see it end like this. Hopefully he'll join Chopper when he's healthy and try to build St. Louis hockey.

TylerSVT* 12-06-2012 04:48 PM

I hope he can live a normal life, concussions suck so much

LAX attack* 12-06-2012 04:53 PM

Truly an era coming to an end. And yes, I am thinking about the Ducks.

Erik Alfredsson 12-06-2012 04:53 PM

Good riddance, Pronger is a dirty A-hole and maybe all his attempts to injure other players are coming back to bite him, I hate Pronger.

The Cheat 12-06-2012 04:55 PM

Was not his biggest fan when he was on the Flyers (Post 2009-2010, anyway), but I obviously wish him well. Hope he can stay healthy and live a nice life.

Nary a tear shed here, either.

Pronger definitely played on, and at times, over the edge. He is the exact type of player that fans and other teams hated to see on the ice against their respected teams but loved when he was wearing your colors. He never played for any of the teams I cheer for in the NHL but he did play for team Canada on many occasions and was a great soldier. Love him or hate him he is one of the best Dmen ever to play the game. One of the most feared and dominating dmen ever. Truly a HoF player. I'm not surprised by this and even though nothing has been made official I think we've all suspected this for some time. Unfortunate for it to end this way.

Krut 12-06-2012 05:01 PM

He might be the last defenseman of the type that we ever see. Big, physical, strong, and proficient at pretty much every facet of the game. He was also possibly one of the nastiest mofos to ever play.

I hate what he did to the Oilers, but I have a ton of respect for his abilities and what he brought to the game.

LAX attack* 12-06-2012 05:02 PM

He deserves hatred, he had his moments, but he played the game the way it should be played

Nick0930 12-06-2012 05:02 PM

Hated him but would've loved him if he was on the Devils.

HarlemsFinest 12-06-2012 05:04 PM

i started disliking him after edmonton. but ******.

SirPaste 12-06-2012 05:04 PM

Love Pronger, welcome home!

TOML 12-06-2012 05:07 PM

He should've never left, really. Silly lockout casualty.

Not a big Pronger fan, but he's always had his house in St. Louis since he played with the Blues. While he still might be retiring, I do know that he stays in St. Louis during the offseason and at times.

Mcnitty 12-06-2012 05:31 PM

he's the kind of player most love to hate but would want on their team.

Pyromaniac3 12-06-2012 06:09 PM

Amazing player. Hopefully he comes back.

Being a 35+ contract (and assuming the rules stay the same), Pronger's AAV will still count towards Philly's cap.

He'll more than likely stay on LTIR for the remainder of his deal. He'll get paid and the Flyers won't be on the hook for the cap. It's a win-win for both sides. The only problem is that the Flyers have yet to replace him on the roster and they still owe him millions of dollars for the situation.

Mctopchowda 12-06-2012 06:25 PM

Im an Oilers fan so part of me doesnt like him for his stunt. However he is one of the best defenseman to ever win the game. He took almost every team he played for to the cup finals. And for that I thank him.

ScaredStreit 12-06-2012 06:34 PM

Dirty or not, Pronger is one of the best defensemen of all time and a shoo-in for the HOF.

RANDOMH3RO 12-06-2012 06:53 PM

Sad, one of my favourite players. I was hoping I'd get to see him play again.

nitz 12-06-2012 06:57 PM

I hate what he did the the Oilers, but his talent and influence at the club and international level is undeniable. I hope that he can still come back.

Quack 12-06-2012 07:39 PM

One of my fav players. Loved the heart he played with. Hope all is well with his life.
