NHL Player Rankings #4

Who is the 4th best player in the NHL right now?

RANKINGS
No.
Player
Sidney Crosby
Evgeni Malkin
Steven Stamkos

OmniSens 12-08-2012 02:06 AM

After an off year for Ovechkin, going with Giroux.

frankthetank91 12-08-2012 02:22 AM

Top 3 are bang on. Giroux hasn't done enough to be the 4th best player in the league yet.

Voted Shea Weber.

Rorschach 12-08-2012 02:27 AM

I believe this poll will be highly contested.

The Newfoundlander 12-08-2012 02:28 AM

Datsyuk. then idk who lol.

Socratic Method Man 12-08-2012 03:48 AM

This is a really tough question. In fact, after Crosby, I don't think there is any obvious answer.

At this point in time, I would probably vote for Datsyuk here. Actually I would vote for him at #3. Stamkos might be #4 for me. Although I would like to see another year or two of Stamkos to cement a position like "4th best player in the league". Not that he doesn't have the talent - he could be the best goalscorer in today's game. But just to be sure.

Datsyuk.

Luigi Lemieux 12-08-2012 09:22 AM

Gotta go dats here. He's comparable enough offensively to the others, while playing a significantly better two way game.

JayKing 12-08-2012 10:02 AM

Weber
Add Suter

Zippy316 12-08-2012 11:32 AM

Didn't realize there was goalies to, I think Lundqvist may have to go here, or very soon afterwards.

eklunds source 12-08-2012 12:07 PM

Quick and Karlsson?

One year they've been above average..

Fire Dumboer 12-08-2012 12:09 PM

Have to go with Lundqvist

I'm taking Lundqvist personally.

Vankiller Whale 12-08-2012 12:13 PM

Going with Chara.

Giroux has to have one more season like last year before he's a top-5 player in my eyes.

96 12-08-2012 12:17 PM

(4) Giroux
(5) Datsyuk
(6) Ovechkin

above average??? both of them have been elite players at their position. not having the norris winner as one of the best players in the league poll would be a mistake. he is a for sure top 15 player in the league if not top 10.

Datsyuk.

156 goals in 3 years isn't proven enough for you? It's not like he just had a breakout season, he has been scoring at an unreal rate for a while, he's 1st by far in goals in the last 3 years and just barely 2nd in points. Only Crosby, Malkin and the Sedins have scored at a higher rate in that time frame, and the kid was freaking 19 when this time frame started!

Izzy 12-08-2012 03:41 PM

Datsyuk

BLASPHEMOUS 12-08-2012 03:43 PM

Claudia for me. Guy makes a difference on a nightly basis.

This is the first time Jonathan Quick had a save percentage over 0.918.

Erik Karlsson is much younger, but he was nowhere near elite in 2010-2011.

One fantastic year does not make a player elite or deserving of best player in the league... See Corey Perry for more information on why.

Hammer Time 12-08-2012 05:11 PM

Lundqvist, it's time to have some other positions on this list.

Rolen 12-08-2012 05:41 PM

Ovechkin.

Sky04 12-08-2012 05:57 PM

weber

Machinehead 12-08-2012 06:04 PM

Ovechkin has fallen off the Earth compared to where he was in '06-'09.

Giourx has had one, ONE, elite season.

I'm going with the guy who's been top 3 at his position every single year since coming into the league 7 years ago.

GuineaPig 12-08-2012 06:10 PM

Weber.

Trap Jesus 12-08-2012 06:38 PM

Chara > Weber

Was tough deciding between Chara and Datsyuk though.
